Hey guys!

I have a question about this reel, i bought it off a buddy for $50 it came with a Shimano Clarus rod 7'. My question(s), since its a 3.8:1 is there a way of making it a higher ratio, is it possible to change the gears out?  Would a bearing change out make it somewhat better then it is now. I have no problems with it but i would like to have the quicker reeling in ability.

 Thanks

 Jim

The stock bearings are pretty good in this reel..  But based on the age, it couldn't hurt.   I would check out boca bearings Abec 5 ceramics.  I would also give this reel a complete cleaning and re-lubing as well.

Thanks a lot FishTank, I'll check that out.

The B38 is a sweet cranking reel and getting hard to find. If it's in decent condition, sell it for $75 and buy a reel more suitable for the application. You'll be way ahead of the game by the time you souce parts etc.

If you don´t like it sell it, I have one of those and it´s my deep diver crank/ slow rolling big willow leaf blade spinnerbait reel; no other reel I own does the job better than it, wouldn´t sell it ever.
