Super User Cgolf Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 I have had some baits that others rave about but draw blanks for me. I have a few Strike King baits that fall into this category, the 1.5 and 2.5 square bills and series 1 cranks just draw zeros for me. On the flipside the mini 3, 1.0 SB, and new shallow SB are winners. Also drew blanks on the xcite SB which really surprised me. It is weird how this happens, I give them all a fair shake in conditions where they should excel and with many of my baits that have been epic fails, I have tried multiple baits to verify that I didn't have 1 bait that was just a loser. Is it us or the bait? Maybe some baits just respond better to our fishing styles? 1 Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 Lol, basically every crank made. No, I do ok with a kvd 1.0 and 1.5, but after that, I may as well throw it in the back yard. 1 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Some older Daiwa cranks and Speed Traps. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 DD22 or any deep diver. Prob me and not the baits tho Quote
papajoe222 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Original Rat L Trap. Other lipless cranks have produced for me, but I've never caught anything with the original. I gave up on them about ten years ago. I opted for the Hot Spot and the Red Eye Shad and haven't looked back. 3 Quote
Dye99 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 The KVD crank....For some reason, I dont catch anything on it, while the world raves about em! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 12, 2015 Global Moderator Posted August 12, 2015 DD22, anything in the DT lineup except the DT4 or DT6 although I no longer buy them because of breakage issues, Rapala Rattlin Rap. 1 Quote
Super User Angry John Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 I have not done so well with the spro little john md series. I want them to work really bad but only had a few on one of the five i own. The 2.5 sk square bill is a zero for me as well but the 1.0 and 1.5 are good to go. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 For me it's a Beetle Spin. I do much better with a small rooster tail spinnerbait. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 DD22, anything in the DT lineup except the DT4 or DT6 although I no longer buy them because of breakage issues, Rapala Rattlin Rap. Same here....add the DT Fat 3 to the that. It caught me tons of fish, but they are fragile..................which is an undesirable quality of a squarebill. 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Smithwick Devil Horse. I've got a few and I want to love them. I love the look and the feel of the balsa and the timelessness of them. Never caught a thing on one 1 Quote
RUSS9999 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Live Target can not catch a fish on anything Live Target. Quote
microotter Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Any lipless, rattle trap style lipless crankbait. 2 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 Any of the truly Deep Diving lures. Manns 20 foot plus and others . The reason is simple. They dive too deep for the lakes I fish . I have never had a lot of luck on the red eyed Shad. I've fished them alongside the Rattle Trap and the Trap smoked them . Quote
NathanW Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Wiggle Warts. I know they catch fish but I promise you they are over rated when put in comparison with most modern day crankbaits. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 I like buying new stuff just to test it. Those minnows in the bubble, baitball nada. Rapala DT series nada. Berkley cranks look good nada. I won't toss them away I'll still try them they just don't work where I'm fishing. FACT at one-time or another each lure does catch fish. I purchased those chopper inline spinners for months caught nothing then one day bingo fish on. Never know. My older style bomber cranks and rebel BIG CLAW crawfish still rocks. Quote
offsidewing Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I've never had much success bass fishing with any crank baits deeper than 4'. Jointed minnows and jitterbug are about the only Crankbaits I mess with. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted August 13, 2015 Super User Posted August 13, 2015 The DD2, and for whatever reason almost any Rapala crankbait. I have absolutely no confidence In any of them. Quote
bassheel Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Second anything LIVE TARGET!!! Looks great but it repels fish. lol 2 Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 The KVD crankbaits always seem to break on me. Quote
Preytorien Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I never seem to have luck with any Rapala DT cranks, also no lipless crankfor me yet has produced, not one. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted August 13, 2015 Super User Posted August 13, 2015 Any of you who are wanting to get rid of your DT cranks can send them on over to me! 2 Quote
RyanFishing Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 For my I can't seem to catch anything on a crankbait bigger than a Strike King 5xd. I've even fished places like KY lake and still can't catch fish on bigger than a 5xd. Quote
Jaw1 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Depps buzzjet. I have read numerous posts raving about them being so good but mine doesn't catch fish. But I love anything rapala Quote
