Super User *Hootie Posted August 11, 2015 Super User Posted August 11, 2015 Oil prices are dropping but gas prices here in Cincinnati are going up. What the heck is that all about? Hootie Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted August 11, 2015 Super User Posted August 11, 2015 Global warming, Trump, ISIS, Wild Fires... Heck, none of those fit the bill this time! Guess the news will have to tell us a different story! I was wondering the same thing Hootie... Just keeps going up here too Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 11, 2015 Super User Posted August 11, 2015 Buy some VLO, they are making money hand over fist. The refineries are a choke point between supply & demand. Plus they have to switch back & forth between summer blend & winter blended gas. That always interrupts the supply as well. 1 Quote

Great, every time they switch over to winter blends, my mpg's go down. 1 Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted August 12, 2015 Author Super User Posted August 12, 2015 Great, every time they switch over to winter blends, my mpg's go down. Price goes up, mileage goes down. Sounds fair. Hootie 1 Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted August 12, 2015 Author Super User Posted August 12, 2015 Gas up another 15 cents over night. I think I see where this is going. The oil companies want oil for $25.00 a barrel, and $4.00 a gallon for gas. Hootie Quote

nick76 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I do believe that you might be supplied by the refinery located in Indiana. They had a fire and have shut down the refinery and that is why prices have risen in your area. Same here in Michigan. Everyone else has seen a substantial drop and our prices rose 30 cents yesterday to an average of $2.68 in the area. They are still predicting sub $2 by the end of September here even with this shutdown. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 Gas went up here 11¢ overnight. Around here the price drops about a nickel over the span of a week and then jumps about 20¢ in one day. Quote

Josh Smith Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Wabash, Indiana went up from $2.59 early yesterday to $2.99 late yesterday. I filled up early. It does this because people will pay for it. Remember when it was around $4 a gallon? Of course, if I drive to Peru, Indiana, I'm sure I'll find it for 50¢ cheaper... Josh Quote
