Primus Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Interesting idea, that said the lightest they offer is 3/16 oz, it seems like lighter weights should be available . Wanted to see if anyone has tried them and how it worked out . http://www.wackojig.com/wackojigstore.htm Quote
jitterbug127 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I don't see much difference really between this and a good old jig hook Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted August 11, 2015 Super User Posted August 11, 2015 Interesting concept but I wonder how many fish end up gut hooked with this? Quote
Hogsticker Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 A 4/0 hook dangling below a worm. Seems like a lot of hook that won't have any plastic attached to it. 2 Quote
Primus Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 I ordered them anyway, besides giving the fish a different look it looks you would have fewer Senko's tear and as Hogsticker pointed out with most of the hook exposed it should result in a high landing % . Quote

Super User smalljaw67 Posted August 11, 2015 Super User Posted August 11, 2015 The hook is way too big for me and the weight is too heavy. I make my own using a size 1 hook for regular stick worms and a size 2 for slender versions and occasionally a 1/0. The weights never go past 1/4oz but I like using 1/16oz and 3/32oz the best as I'm fishing the wacky rig in water less than 10' and I don't want it to fall too fast. 1 Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted August 11, 2015 Super User Posted August 11, 2015 i recently tried going with weighted wacky hooks and i thought the weight killed the action of the stickbait , I'm thinking i'd have better luck with a nail weight through the middle . But for right now i'm just throwing them weightless (5'' stickbait) on an Owner wacky hook in 1/0 , i'm patient enough to let it fall on it's own . anyhow , that wacky rig looks like a washer attached to a jig head , how is that supposed to save baits ??? Primus Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 I won't be able to confirm it until I field test it but I'm hoping that it helps the bait last longer because you are not tearing throw the plastic when setting the hook . As far as killing the action I believe the extra weight would add to it, that said I will have to see how the fish react to this approach , seems like it could be effective when the fish are in deeper water on a windy day . Not trying to sell anyone on it, just stating what has me intrigued by the concept . I will be sure to follow-up in the future with my on the water experience . Quote
