I have some clear 5 inch hollow body swimbaits with a slight blue back. I'm going to a lake without shad and want to use them but I feel I'd be more successful if they looked like bluegill. So I bought scent it markers in orange black and yellow to doctor them up.

Anyone else do anything similar?

I have, if there is salt in the plastic they will smear/run in time.  I have some Male Perch Keitech that is now that are a weird 2 tone orange color.

i wouldn't worry too much on subtle color differences , it's mostly action of the lure and presentation ....

Oh I'm aware, but it's still fun and if a flash of orange can trigger a strike then it was worth it.
