Megastink Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I have a HB 798 si unit on a portable transducer mount for my little 14' Jon. I have it hooked up to a small 12v Cabelas brand battery (the small 5lb one). The unit recently started shutting off after about a minute of use. Sometimes it will stay on for five to ten minutes, then shut off. I'm not sure what the problem is. Any help would be great! Thanks! Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted August 14, 2015 Super User Posted August 14, 2015 I had a little corrosion at the fuse connection on one of my Lowrance units that caused me to talk to myself for a couple of trips. As has already been mentioned, you need proper voltage to keep your unit working. Good luck. Quote
BadBassWV Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Next time it shuts off, jiggle the power cable at the unit. I ended up putting super glue on mine to keep it in place and problem was solved. Quote

Not the use of any adhesive. To do that, remove the display from the mount, locate the power cord plug. Very gently and very slightly adjust the two pins in any direction. Do it so little you cannot tell you did anything. The pins still have to line up with the tiny holes in the display case, LOOK at them. Use a pencil point. The somewhat loose fit of the cord plugs is as designed for easy removal of the display from the mount. My 798ci SI did that over five years ago and after I adjusted the pins, I have not had that issue since. Quote
Smokinal Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Had the same issue with my 798 at my console. Found a loose connection under my dash, never happened again. Quote
boydn1 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Different issue but, I have a 798 on the bow and almost every time I pull the t motor up the 798 locks up. I have to turn it off everytime I lift the t motor. Quote
