Yo Zuri Hybrid #15

I have read that some poeple seem to think the #15 is too stiff...a little concerning given that i just ordered some.   Antone have experience with yo zuri #15?

That was the same issue I had with it. 10 minutes and I was done. Took it off and went back to what I normally use.

I had a rod with 17 fluorocarbon that I removed and replaced with YH 15 pound.  I was surprised at how much more manageable it was than the flouro... to each their own I guess.  I will say this, they YH 12 pound test is rated as stronger (and just as thick) as many 17 pound fluorocarbons.  You may not need to go to 15 pound YH.  The 12 pound is on 3 of my baitcasting rods and I have yet to get any kind of a rats nest and it is very strong.

I found 15 lb to be unmanageable.  I switched to 15 lb Pline CX and had much better results.

15 lb yo zuri imo is best for lures that have a lot of resistance and i have better results with 3/4 oz and up in saltwater with long cast kastmasters,jigs,spoons,and manns stretch series.the 12lb is perfect for anything fresh i do rocks,wood, and open water t-rigs,spooks,jigs.

I use 12# Yo Zuri for cranks, spinnerbaits etc. and for carolina rig leaders, nothing heavier.

For anything heavier it would be for bottom contact presentation's and for that it's either braid or 14# Sniper.

I really like the 6# and 10# yozuri. Pretty much trouble free.

I used 15# YZ for several years. With a little KVD Line and Lure conditioner it works fine. Without it is a still a good choice for baits =/> 3/8 oz in applications that require strength and abrasion resistance IMO. It is relatively cheap, so it is worth a try. Good luck.

Comparing apples to apples; Yozuri Hybrid 15# = .016D, P-Line Fluorocarbon Clear hybrid 15#= .014D, 20# = .016D. Compare the line diameters when making choices.

I use Hybrid as leader material, and like it a lot for certain applications. I use 12#, but as stated above, it's diameter is thicker than most 12# line (closer to 15#). That said, it's breaking strength is probably comparable to 17#.

Pros: very strong, excellent knot strength, very high abrasion resistance, low visibility, it stretches, cost, and it lasts (I've had spools last years - they were kept in a dark, dry place)

Cons: it retains some memory, it's stiff, it doesn't cast as well as braid/most limp monos (ex. Trilene XL/limp flourocarbons (Invisex), and it stretches

I fish rivers a lot, using it as a leader, and I really don't worry much about boulders, riprap, trees, etc.

All stretch it also dont break when kinked and even a 1 yr old can put a knot in it that dont fail

I use it for heavier end of the baits I throw, 3/8 and up spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, traps, big texas rigs and flipping jigs. It don't break, less stretch than mono. Does have a bit of memory but only gets dicey if you are trying to finesse pitch or cast light baits like a 1/8 texas rigged worm...

not me !! there are 15 different lines i'd choose before i'd spool up with that stuff , i tried it a long time ago and hated it , too springy and way too much stretch . Seriously , really don't know why you guys use that stuff , I'd go with P-Line products instead , just as cheap and a lot better .

I must have gotten a bad spool of 15... but it was bad enough that I will never use it again.  Friends were amazed that I casted off one ounce baits.

Line conditioner does wonders for Hybrid of all tests. Compare based on diameter and you're good to go.

You should try it again, maybe got a bad spool.  In fact, YH will stretch slightly less than P-Line CX and probably less than almost any other non-braided line.  The only line that I tested that stretched less than YH was Trilene XT.

I like it.   However, this is the line that KVD L&L was designed for!  Works like magic.   Once conditioned, it is fantastic.

I have it on one set up and it works just fine but I am using KVD line conditioner.  Stuff does work.  I haven't fished this line without it.
