bernacd Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I'll be staying on an island in lower saranac the last week of august. I'm not looking for anyone's secret spot or anything, but I would like to know what your opinion is on lower vs. middle saranac. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated, thanks! Quote
Subaqua Adinterim Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Check out the Adirondack forum the hunting and fishing section. Also, the NYS DEC website has maps and information about each lake. Additionally, there is a publication by Sportsman's Connection covering lakes in various regions of NY. it is sold at Walmart,Bass Pro, etc. you may be able to order this online from their site. I got one of these several years ago when we started going to the ADKs for vacation in September and it is quite helpful. Quote
Neil McCauley Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Have been to Middle but haven't fished it. Never been to Lower. I would guess that lower has better SMB fishing because it is deeper. Quote
bernacd Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 I realized after I posted that this question probably belongs in the northeast forum, so I appreciate your responses. I should be there long enough to take a shot at both Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted August 12, 2015 Super User Posted August 12, 2015 A lot of good smallmouth fishing on middle Saranac. Most of the shorelines are very rocky with some grass mixed in as well. Just be warned, you may catch as many or more pike than you do bass. Quote
