tje0705 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Hey guys, Im looking at buying some gambler ez swimbaits. I was wondering which size you guys are using mostly the EZ swimmer or Big EZ. I want to get these becasue im looking into putting more time into my swimbait fishing and swim jig fishing. Which size would be best for just fishing with a weighted swimbait hook and which would be better as a swim jig trailer. I cant decide if the big EZ will be to big for a swimbait trailer or if it will be ok. I feel like the 4" caffiene shads that I have been using are to small. How are you guys fishing these mostly. I have read most of the EZ swimmer threads on this I just wanted to get some fresh info on these. Thanks guys. Quote
wytstang Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I throw the Big EZ on a weighted 1/4 hook and on a 3/8 swim jig. I prefer them on the weight hook since all my swim jigs are 3/8 & 1/2 and the Big EZ is fairly heavy on it's own. It's also more weedless on a weighted hook, at least for me. It does have great action and the Ghost shad looks pretty realistic swimming in the water, at least to me. Quote
microotter Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I like the EZ on a 1/4 swim jig. I like to reel it in really slow just above the bottom. It kills for smallmouths. I never tried the big EZ. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted August 9, 2015 Super User Posted August 9, 2015 Never used the EZ Swimmer (too small), but the Gambler Big EZ should be outlawed. Roger 4 Quote

I figure by now, everyone's tired of my drill Very basically: use a good-sized hook (5/0 or 6/0), a light weight (3/16 oz is ample), keep the lure working in the slop (spatterdock is my favorite) and crank the swimbait just fast enough to maintain reliable tail action. If all goes well, micropterus will do the rest Roger 2 Quote

Random Tackle Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Absolutely! Skinny Dipper or Big EZ are killers down here. Mike I kid I kid. The Swing Impacts and Easy Shiners are so effective I haven't tried much other than some old Swimmin Super Fukes I have. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 13, 2015 Super User Posted August 13, 2015 Big EZ is a killer bait from FL to upper Canada. I have caught pike up to 23lbs on them in northern Saskatchewan. Captain Shane Procell caught his first DD bass on one last year. They do work. 3 Quote
