Super User clayton86 Posted August 9, 2015 Super User Posted August 9, 2015 Anyone here have one of them worm farms for composting and keeping bait. I spend my weekend nights in the yard catching night crawlers for the kids to use when we go fishing. I started looking into the vermiculture kits and buying a couple thousand worms. Figured I could give my mom the fertilizer they make for her garden or depending how much I get out of it use it in my micro food plot I'm making next year for deer. Then when ever we need worms for fishing I can just grab a dozen or so. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 10, 2015 Global Moderator Posted August 10, 2015 I used to keep a worm farm in my parents basement when I lived at home. They have tons of nightcrawlers in their yard so it was easy to keep it stocked. Bad thing is if you lose one and don't find it fast it will kill all the rest, so it's really quite a bit of work to keep checking and making sure they're all doing well. Anymore I just let the hose run in the yard for 5 or 10 minutes and they start popping out like crazy and all I have to do is pick them up. I can turn the hose on while I'm hooking the boat up or rigging rods up and pick my bait up real quick before I leave. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted August 10, 2015 Super User Posted August 10, 2015 It makes for a great compost pile, that dirt will grow anything. Quote
