Turkey sandwich Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Has anyone fished these in current, possibly with a nail weight to add to the heavier tail section? Like every smallmouth fisherman, I'd love a helgramite immitation that doesn't suck and noticed that it's retreating action almost looks like a helgramite trying to swim to the bottom to burry itself. Has anyone played with this idea? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 7, 2015 Global Moderator Posted August 7, 2015 The only way I could actually get one to back up was with a very small hook and very light line, otherwise the either sink straight down or glide slightly forward. Quote

Same with me ... disappointed in the bait frankly. They seem to be on clearance in DSG for quite some time now. At least up here. Quote

That was what prompted me to pick up a pack. I'm going to try and be creative with them on the river and hope for better results. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted August 7, 2015 Super User Posted August 7, 2015 One of the few Havoc baits I have not been impressed with. Like Bluebasser86, I could only get them to "back up" with very light line and a tiny hook, not my style. I'd just rather put a nail weight in a 4" yum dinger and get the same action with my regular dock skipping gear. 3 Quote
