Legal To Make Copies Of Fishing License?

I need to make some copies of mine because I always lose them somehow.  There's probably a huge pile of socks and expired fishing licenses behind the dryer.

Our fishing licenses are puter print outs. We make two copies incase one gets wet. We're in the deep(law) puters too.

I turn 65 next month. I think I get a free license.

In Indiana, whenever I buy my license they give me two copies and I then make one more just in case.  The conservation officers are checking for them and writing tickets faster than ever.

Here in VA, you do it online and they email it to you.  No reason at all not to have multiple copies.  I have one in my tackle box, one in my kayak crate, one in my wallet and the digital always avail on my phone.  I did have one warden who accepted the phone version, but didn't really like it and suggested that next time we meet I should have a paper copy on me. 

i had the exact opposite happen to me.  A VA warden told me a digital copy was fine.

I have the fwc app on my phone which has my liscense. I haven't ran into a warden or anything. But if there's a tab that says "view liscense" I don't see how he couldn't accept it.

I have mutiples, have the pdfs in the phone. Never had a problem with wardens and all the fish cops know me.

I don't carry my fishing licence and my wallet with me, maybe in a nicer area but not here.

In Massachusetts it's OK to print multiple copies.  Check with your state's fish and game website.  I, like other members, keep a copy in my fishing backpack, truck, and small tackle bag.

Michigan you are able to go any store that issues them and ask for a reprint and they will print out another for you.  I have 3 copies of mine.

I buy mine online and print copies. I've got one in my wallet, one in the truck, one in the boat, and one in my bank fishing bag.

I found the pdf on my wifes phone and made more copies than I should ever need. I would be willing to bet I will never encounter one again, at least around here but at least I will be prepared.

I purchase mine (Michigan) on line and print "Several" copies.

One for the boat, one for the truck, one for the house and then there's the "just in case" copy.

These are actual print outs of the document which I do sign.

 

I think now most states offer the on line option.

The warden I spoke with said they only have 49 not counting higher ups for the state. I figured when I moved here that since I was near one of the best trout fisheries or so it's claimed they they would be out in force. Couldn't be further from the truth.

Anybody know if it is legal to use an old clipped license as identification? I recently got a new one because of a motorcycle endorsement and have my old one. It is just clipped on the corner, oh and I'm located in Texas. Tried doing some research to check the legality of it but couldn't find anything solid.

Don't know why it wouldn't be legal.  BR covers the country and the responses will be from people living in states other than your own, those replies may not apply to where you live.

 

 A phonecall or google one's own state licensing agency should yield the right answer.

Here in Indiana you can make as many copies as you need. Nothing special.

 

I have one in my wallet, one in the tackle bag, one in the waterproof bag with my boat registration in it, one in the glove box of my car, and the PDF on my phone. 

 

The few times I've ever been stopped by the DNR they just pull up in their boat or truck and ask my license number. Maybe there's a pre-fix that changes year to year that tells them legit licenses vs. fakes?

 

Either way I've never been hit with any kind of fine. They even pulled my brother-in-law's up by his state issued drivers license. The DNR officers that have stopped me have been more than courteous. Great guys, and will often give you pointers they hear from other guys offering up advice.

This is nothing that I have ever considered because Fish and Game in the Great State of Washington don't check for fishing licences unless you are fishing for salmon. Its part of their strategy to eliminate all other species.
