Tw Teaming Up With Rebaits To Reduce Litter

So I came across this on TW's Facebook page.

I think this is a great effort to help reduce the litter on the lakes, however this can only help if the sportsmen make it work.

The idea of them maybe turning a profit on this doesn't bother me because of the the factors involved. The cost of implementation, the profit is all dependable on the amounts of baits received.

What are your thoughts.

Great idea.  The only thing I'm not 100% on board with, is they don't recycle them back into lures.  I would love to buy recycled toads, worms, ect.  They would be cheaper and come in colors like puke green and rotten pumpkin.

I like the idea and the effort, but if someone is too lazy to use a regular trash can...they're not going to use one of these. I do hope they make it to WV, because I would definitely use them.

I agree. Just adding a box is not going to fix the issue, but maybe it will help curve the problem.

But maybe little steps like this will help. On a conversation that I had on another forum a question was brought up.

How much of the trash (wrongly discarded plastics) is from Fisher men/women throwing them in the water, and how much is from plastics being pulled off? Maybe this needs to be better looked into, and the problem might not rest in the hands of the Fisher, but the makers. Plastics like Z-Man's elastech (spelling?) might be a new bench mark in plastic making for durability.

I feel like many of these programs have some good intent but like others mention I am not so sure the big picture will be effected. In general people are nasty critters. Sad to say but by in large we are pretty scummy. I see it every day on my job dealing with small to medium groups and 9 times out of 10 when I go to pick up the chairs there is trash shoved down between them and left for whoever.

 

I hope it works but I don't see it making a impact.

Every bit helps.  We just had a cleanup of our adopted lake this past weekend.  Twice a year it gets done after our tournament.
