Hey Y'all,

I could use a recommendation for a launch spot on Kentucky Lake. I'm coming from the Nashville area, and use a kayak with no electronics.

Pickwick is my home lake, and it's my understanding that they fish similarly. I'd really like to fish some hydrilla fields on Kentucky Lake, as that's what I spend most of my time with on Pickwick. I know it's all the about the ledges, but in order to exploit those, the electronics are crucial, therefore the grassy areas suit me better.

I'll happily share a few sweet spots on Pickwick with anyone who can make a solid KY Lake recommendation.

Thanks!

Take a look at Birdsong Creek on the southern end of the lake. Its a major creek arm that should be safe for your boat. I caught a nice 4 pounder in there. When you get hungry for lunch they have a amazing buffet at the marina. Best  fried catfish I've ever had. Good Luck!

Also, I almost forgot, try Bennett Creek if you can get there. It's FULL OF GRASS! I hade some really good frogging action in there a few weeks ago.

I'm at the Kentucky Dam Village State Resort campground now.

There is a ramp I passed by getting in here off Rt 641.

Don't know if it's accessibility is to your liking for a kayak but I thought I'd mention it.

Launched at Camden Landing, fished the Birdsong mouth at the main river all the way down to the Duck River Suck today.....not a single bite.

I relentlessly pounded the hydrilla with everything I knew, as well as the Birdsong mouth ledge. Countless shad and gar in the grass, but couldn't stir up a bass. First experience on Kentucky Lake was hot and tough, but I can see how that place could turn on once the weather cools.

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

On the east side of the River off of I 40 Birdsong , Sails landing , Eva Boat ramp, Beaver Dam boat ramp an Camden. on the west side of the river Hwy 70 New Johnsonville Boat ramp. There's a lot more between I40 and Paris Tn The rest of them I have never put in there.

No worries. I've been skunked on Kentucky Lake plenty of times. I still haven't figured out the ledges either. I wish you the best of luck next time you're on the water.
