SteveKickinBass Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I tried to make a "spro" and I want your opinions about it. Go ahead and critique it...This is the 1st attempt and I know I have a few things I want to change, but I would like to hear from you guys as well. It does float as well. Thanks Sorry, the pic isn't the greatest. Hard to get a close-up. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Nice work, haven't seen anyone make something like that. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 What exactly did you do to "make" this lure? Quote
SteveKickinBass Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 I have a toad mold that I posted in a previous post that I had trouble pouring the legs, so I improvised with this. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 28, 2009 Super User Posted September 28, 2009 If it floats, I would say it should get bit. Might want to throw a couple more skirt strands into your mold for the legs. If you have too many, you could always thin them out later. Much easier to thin out than try and add some. I would also try and hide the hook shank a little more in the plastic, whether trying a new hook or moving it back. The way it sticks out now will catch on whatever cover you throw the bait into. These type of baits usually get thrown into some pretty nasty stuff, as you know. Quote
SteveKickinBass Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 Just an update...Wanted to show some pics of them floating in the sink. They are 3.5 inches long so I have to use a smaller 3/o hook. I just threw a keeper hook on them. Quote
-HAWK- Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Interesting baits you got there. You may want to rig those with some of these http://www.***.com/descpage-OTLW.html. Quote

That's a great idea Hawk if you want to submerge it some around the lilly pads instead of floating it. Quote
basspro96 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 That is genius! You might make a dime or two off that one! Quote
SteveKickinBass Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 How did you get the frog to float. I poured it with floating plastic as well as regular plastic. Quote
