Topwater98 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I have a few hollow-bodied frogs that have been ripped up. I was wonder if there is a simple way to fix them. Most of the holes are small but just big enough that they make the frog sink. Would something like super glue work? Thanks for any help. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted August 3, 2015 Super User Posted August 3, 2015 I just had to replace the legs on my frog along with patching a hole and I used marine grade epoxy. So far ... so good. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted August 3, 2015 Super User Posted August 3, 2015 Put em in a pot of water and slowly turn the heat up or else they will hop out. Afterwards put some hot sauce on em with a side of cornbread. 7 Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted August 3, 2015 Super User Posted August 3, 2015 MEND-IT .... you can use super glue but the spot where you fix will NOT be flexible but really stiff and start to flake , can be used in as a quick fix on the water but you would be better off saving torn plastics used during the day , take them home and use the mend it to fix them right and then rotate them back into your soft plastic arsenal !! 3 Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 AFAIK Mend-it won't work for hollow body frogs... I cut pieces from a couple of really torn up old hollow body frogs to patch the holes/tears in my newer frogs and rats. Scissors and superglue, it's just like putting a patch on an old inner-tube. Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted August 4, 2015 Super User Posted August 4, 2015 So does that stuff not make your soft plastics hard like super glue? If so I need some lol been going through chatter baitz trailers like crazy it does not , it '' welds '' the plastic through a chemical process of melting the plastic together rather than ''glueing '' like super glue does , your bait will be good as new Quote

CDMeyer Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I have herd that cutting a small bob size hole in the back of the frog helps drain the water out Quote
edfitzvb Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I have successfully used Mend-It for one of my son's frogs. A pickerel hit it and put some rips in it with his teeth. So far, so good, and the frog remains flexible. I can recommend the product. Nice folks, too, in their dealings with me. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted August 4, 2015 Super User Posted August 4, 2015 I just use superglue. Sure it puts a few slightly harder spots in them, but I've had no adverse effects because of it. I usually squeeze the holes/cuts and put some on the joining edges and push them together. Because there isn't much to hold there, I take another drop or two and skin it across the top of the cut/hole. With the amount of northerns we have up here, I've had to fix a lot of frogs and never had an issue with the superglue method. Quote
charp Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I use Fix A Frog. This stuff works great!!! Quote

It does work for frogs. Really well too! You just have to make sure you aren't flexing the body too hard when you apply it because the mend-it "melts" the plastic in order to bond it properly so there can be a moment or two of panic at first- but not to worry it bonds and fixes just fine. Cgrinder Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Mend-it works really well on Spro frogs. They still take on water but I feel better about it. Quote
