Anyone know anything about this combo?

Need a few extra rigs for a trip coming up and am looking at budget med-light/medium spinning set ups in the 6.5-7 ft range

Had one for years. Rod is pretty decent and the reel is excellent at that price.

My girlfriend has the lady's version, which is the same rod and reel with a different paint job (6'6" M). She seems to love the rod and from the few times I have used it I think its a nice set up. The reel is what really stood out to me because, as all pflueger spinning reels seem to perform, it is an incredibly smooth reel. I'd say its a good buy!

Hope this helps!

I've got one. The rod is kind of whippy, but not terrible, still sensitive enough to feel bites. I've used mine for crappie mostly. It is not a bad combo for $50-$60. Instead of buying it again, I would get the Trion reel (or other $20-$30 reel) and get a Berkley Lightning Rod. That's a much better rod for only $15-$20 more for the combo.

I did just that.Trion Reel, Med action 7' Lightning Rod. Instant $70 combo. Lightning rods are very light, but not incredibly sensitive. So I use this setup for lighter treble hook lures and wacky rigs.

I hear good things about reel.  The rod I'm not sure, but my experience with combos like these the rod usually is the cheapest of the two.

I'm going to get a trion for a finesse reel soon based on this thread lol. I may get a spinning ethos rod though

You would be better off to buy a Shimano or Daiwa.

Not planning on spending much on a setup I don't finesse fish too much

Shimano and daiwa have a lot of cheaper options such as the Sedona which I used as my Finesse reel for over 3 years and it as worked great! I have a symetre now to replace it so Im now using it as my panfish & Trout reel.

I don't find this to be the case at all. Shimano and Daiwa quality falls off dramatically once you get into lower priced reels imo. Meanwhile Pfluegar's flagship spinning reel is the President at $60 and the Trion is dang near as good for $40.

Trion is a great reel at 40$ j love having a direct handle pinion gear setup .i have had lots of spinning reels and i prefer direct drive handles now .no slop and smooth as butter on a hot peice of bologna

I picked up one w/the 7 Med pwr fast action rod about 5 years ago and have to say while the reel is excellent, the rod really suprised me. It reminds me alot of the fenwick HMG's before they changed them. Perfect for a "do it all" spinning rod. I like it much more than some $200 rods.

I also have a 6' L thats okay, just a little too whippy for plastics. And harder for me to be accurate with.

Can't speak on the rod that comes with the combo but I've fished 2 Trion reels hard for the last 3 seasons and they have preformed flawlessly.
