I was thinking of doing a fishing trip to maine in a few weeks. I am told that the bass fishing is supposedly amazing.

has anyone here ever rented a cottage or cabin by a lake with kayaks or canoes? all pointers are appreciated.

if any members here are from maine and would like to join me or show me the ropes I will gladly return the favor in ny.

The bass fishing in Maine is amazing in my opinion. Plenty of places to fish. Lots of fish. Big fish.

Fishing in Maine is terrible!!! There are no bass, place is loaded with black flies you'll have a miserable time. Whatever you do don't listen to anything mainebasser has to say He lives in some obscure place in maine and just wants company. But if you run into a bind and nobody will go I guess I might think about it.

Bass fishing in Maine is great! Just got back from a 2 week trip in SW Maine. Caught highest volume of fish on a Gitzit brown craw Tube Jig, but caught big ones on a Wacky rigged senko and drop shot a shad shaped worm - both in Green Pumpkin w/ Black Flake. For me Senkos and Fat Ikas for 0-10' of water and Tube Jigs with 1/4 jig head for deeper water. Cast the tube jig out there and bounce it off the bottom. Caught 90% smallies between the 4 of us but when the largemouth did bite, they were good sized.

Was just up at Cobbossee for a week....outstanding fishing all week. Largemouth up to 6.5lbs, and smallies a little over 5 (not by me but the guy I was fishing with unfortunately). We are completely different styles, his was on swimbait or spinnerbait. Most of mine were t-rigged craws or swivel heads with various plastics in green pumpkin or watermelon/red. Also got a few on popper, jerkbaits, jigs, and shakeyheads.

Returned from a 5 day vaca to Annabessacook, not too much time fishing as time was with family and friends.  We caught mostly all largies fishing early morning and after dinner in the evening.  Most fish caught on senkos and tubes nothing big, one over 4lbs with a few others in the 3lb range.  If your in a canoe of yak be very careful with storms they come up quickly and can be violent.  Lots of gd lakes and ponds in So. Maine, go to fish and wildlife web sight they list most of the waters and which species are in them, also list access.  Enjoy your trip. also be aware if your using any type of motor you'll need a sticker for weeds.

You must have caught them all, been here for 2 days and it's slowwwwwwww. Then again the cold front yesterday could have something to do with it.

We had motor issues so we could only hit the part around the lighthouse and towards the Lakeside Inn. The humps offshore at the weed edges, kept the boat ~12 feet and worked the edges.

I have been all over, we caught probably 14-15 total for 2 days now. Biggest was 4.2, avg around 2lbs. But yesterday there was like 20mph NNE wind, this morning ther was zero wind and bluebird skies. Another front is coming in tomorrow from the south, I'm confident they will turn back on. I know this place is better than it has been this past weekend.

ok so im not sure where to go but hate driving so I will avoid the northern part of the state. I don't mind camping but a  cabin would also be nice if it is on a small private lake. I will be on a float tube and kayak so I want to avoid large lakes with heavy boat traffic, especially jet skiers. I enjoy topwater so im looking for places with lilies too. all suggestions are appreciated.
