Dypsis Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I want to give this a try but am having some trouble on how to rig it - specifically the hook. It appears that you take a wacky hook and rig it in-line with the bait with the hook point, pointing up (to the water surface). So the shank is the part in the bait. I have also seen it plain wacky hooked - perpendicular to the worm, hooked where only the bend is in the worm (also hook point to the water surface), among others. I'm sure they will all work, but how do you prefer to rig it. What size weight? Thanks, Matt Quote
a1712 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I rig mine with a 2/0-3/0 EWG and rig it weedless. I think the whole idea of a NEKO rig is the nose weighted hook, rig your hook however you deem necessary. Brian. Quote

Just looking to see what people found gave the best presentation and hook up ratio. I'll play around and see what works. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted August 1, 2015 Super User Posted August 1, 2015 You can buy a special sinker called a Damiki Neko sinker, it goes into the head of the worm and looks like a mushroom jig head with no hook. Then you can use a wacky hook or a regular worm hook in a size 1 to 2/0 and you insert the hook point into the side of the worm either right on or just above the egg sack, if the worm has one. If you ever wacky rigged a Senko with an O-ring then you already know how the hook is going to come out of the worm, and remember, the worm should be one with high floatation as it is a stand up presentation, there is a good video on you tube showing a better look than the one from ***. Thanks! I actually placed a TW order a day or two ago and picked up the Damiki in 1/16 and 1/8size. I'll do some more YouTubing. Quote
BocaGrande Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 That's awesome I never seen this before! Can't wait to try this out! Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted August 1, 2015 Super User Posted August 1, 2015 Finesse wide gap hook in #1 1/16 lead nail weight in nose Rig like any other wacky worm. Quote
Tmmytomato Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Dypsis - Smalljaw67 gave you the right scoop. You can Texas rig them or wacky rig them - different presentations on different days depending on what the bass are responding to. You can fish a Texas weedless Neko in some pretty nasty stuff and give them a presentation they won't often see. Quote
