rchiuz Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Hi all, I have been jumping around trying different parks in Miami. I was wondering if bass fishing is good at CB Smith park? If it is good, what spot and lures is recommended for that area? Thanks in Advance! Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted July 31, 2015 Super User Posted July 31, 2015 CB Smith holds fish, but like any park in Miami and Broward, the park receives it's fair share of fishing pressure. You have to give any park it's due diligence and experiment until you develop your own patterns. At least that's what I have learned fishing parks. 1 Quote

SamTheHam Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I have caught bass there and some good size one as well. Just try to find places that look fishy to you. The water levels are low and it's hot so a lot of the outer creeks might be low. Look for some pads or vegation and you should catch some. I have also have caught peacocks there. Where your sunglasses to see if you can spot some by sight. Quote
bocaLMBhunter Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I personally do not enjoy fishing inside parks, they receive to much pressure IMO. The canal the runs along Flamingo rd just outside CB Smith has alot of fish. That canal is a feed off canal of the Griffin road canal which is just north, which means snook, tarpon, peacocks, and bass lurk in those waters. Google Maps is a great fishing tool, look in the area around CB Smith and you will see what I'm talking about. Quote

I just tend to fish parks because I worry about parking and safety when fishing solo. I looked at the map, You think I would be ok just pulling up some place near the canal to park and fish? Quote

If there is one thing that Dade and Broward Counties do not have a shortage of are canals. Parking is never a problem. Just don't pull off on the side of a busy road. As far as fishing alone. I canal fish 99.5% of the time by myself. Have been since I was kid. Here are few tips. Always be aware of your surroundings. Keep your head on a swivel. Watch for snakes, harmful debris like glass, nails, etc. Always tell someone the area you are going to be fishing. As far as people. They will appear out of the blue sometimes, but thankfully for me after all these yrs I have had 0 issues. Oh.. last thing. Watch your footing. The banks sometimes give way while you step. That's always fun. It's happen to me several times. Not fun!! 2 Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 3, 2015 Super User Posted August 3, 2015 I agree about fishing the canals rather than parks. I don't get down to that area but a few times a year because it's 100 mile round trip for me, I have those species near where I live. Quote
