Super User .ghoti. Posted August 3, 2015 Super User Posted August 3, 2015 Why would you want red hooks? Red disappears under water, right? Quote
Jon G Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 I prefer to go the natural route. I always have a few dead squirrels in a cooler with their guts opened up. Just dip that crank in the guts so it's smothered with blood. Not only do you get the red look on your bait, but it leaves a trail of red and pieces of coagulated blood behind the lure. The bass love it. The boat gets a little messy, but it's all about putting fish in the boat. I'm guessing you're joking?? If not this maybe the strangest thing I've ever heard..... Quote

If putting bass in the boat is strange, then I guess I'm gonna be strange. Is it really that strange? How many times have you seen squirrels playing around the water, or on overhanging trees? You don't think bass know that? They know it, and they know what fresh squirrel tastes like. Quote

Jon G Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Why would you want red hooks? Red disappears under water, right? It gives them something to aim at. Putting a red hook in the front makes them take the bait head first making it harder for them to throw it. I didn't believe it at first but it definitely works. I don't really think red disappears in water until it's deeper in the water column. Plus we use red baits all the time so the fish obviously see it. Quote
Kyle46N Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 How do you get the dead squirrels? I put a bird feeder in the backyard and "get em" with a pellet gun. And Jon G, I put the squirrels on ice...............No ice? That's bush league....I'm no amateur. 1 Quote
