I'm going to try draging a 10 inch worm at night and was wondering what the best braid that would show up under a black light would be? Or any other line that you guys use with a black light would be helpful also. Any info. Would be great I'm new to this technique.

I use Mccoy Clear Blue Florescent. Stren, Trilene and several others make the CBF also. Stren also used to make a CBF fluorocarbon, maybe they still do...not sure.

This is more of a comment than an answer, but I've only use original Stren when ising a black light, but I haven't used one in years. Fishing without the light has forced me to rely on feeling the bite. It didn't take long for me to start feeling when a fish started moving off with my worm. I use a worm with a lot of action (G-Tail), which helps because I can feel the loss of the tail action similar to fishing spinnerbaits.

My recommendation for line would be any bright or white colored braid. Even under the light of the moon, it's fairly easy to see.

Personally I love the black light. I feel like I've gotten a lot more fish in the boat because of it. Why force yourself to rely on feeling when sometimes you aren't going to feel it...I've caught some big fish when watching my line just jump...never felt it ....Enjoy it and use whatever will show up in the light, your preference. I use mono.

I agree...day or night I watch my line with jigs and soft plastics and I know I've caught fish that I never felt after seeing the line move....especially on the fall with semi slack line.

Totally agree!

Plus using a black light forces you to fish one direction only, the direction the light is shining. I guess that's fine if you're fishing towards the bank only but why would you do that.

That's not entirely true these days. There's a guy here locally that will install a full light kit that goes around your entire boat. It's not only a blacklight but white light too which is super handy at night. It's pretty awesome and not terribly expensive to have done. I would imagine there are places all around the country that can do this. You can always see the folks who've had it done because you see this huge glow across the lake...They can see their line on any cast in any direction. Once I get my next boat it's going to this guy for installation. I can't wait!

If your on the water at night, you should have running lights on anyway.. Pline clear/blue is great for it if using a black light.. Get acclimated to dark & feel & you will never use a black light again!

There are lots if way to night bass fish from a boat with or without the aide of additional lightning beyond legal running and nav lights.

Catt spends more time on the water than most anglers do during the day time and catches lots a bass, so listen to him!

I am not an expert at night fishing and tried several different lighting techniques, the black light being the least effective for me. We don't have a lot of bugs on the water at night so white light isn't an issue, other than night blinding problems. For that reason, I even cover part of the rear running light to shade the back seaters area from the bright white light. You need a powerful spot light at times to see where you are going, legal running and nav red & green bow lights. A small pen or flash light to find and tie things, anything else is up to the individual.

You will be in better touch with lures at night without the aide of extra lighting and that does improve your catch rate.

The black LED light strips like Bluewater are popular.

I wish the black light would make the trees glow. I try to parallel cast the bank at night and spend a lot of time retrieving my lures from trees . LOL

I go completely blacked out at night except for my headlamp when I have to use it.

Day or night I like to line watch and feel. Why not use every sense? If I could smell them, I would try that too.

I perfer to fish in total darkness, I only turn my stern light on when I hear a boat approaching.

At 64 yrs old my night vision is still good enough to see my line unless I'm in shadows near a bank or it's a new moon.

Back to the op's question any clear mono, fluoro, or copoly will reflect quite well under a black light.

I wasn't attemting to persuade anyone not to use a blacklight, I was just pointing out that fishing without one will make you better at feeling your bait and what is happening with it. I do use one when there is a new moon
