d-camarena Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Im going to be purchasing a medium light spinning rod today. The two options are 6'8 or 7ft. Which one would you buy? Ive never had a medium light. I will mostly be throwing really small flukes and senkos, worms. Thanks Quote
EvanT123 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I don't think 4 inches will make that much of a difference. I would take into account your storage needs or if you will be around brush and stuff. I would opt for the 7'. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 To make long casts (clear shallow water spooky fish) 7'; for short range casting or vertical fishing (drop shot etc) 6'8". I also prefer slightly shorter for jerking the fluke baits. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted July 30, 2015 Super User Posted July 30, 2015 Guys.........guys.......guys. What is wrong with you all? The correct answer is he needs both. I gravitate toward longer casting rods, but towards shorter spinning rods. I like the 6'8" / 6'9" models I have in both. Take Mike's (DVT) advice. If you fish from shore, the shorter rod is handier when there are trees and bushes nearby. 2 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted July 30, 2015 Super User Posted July 30, 2015 You will be fine with either. My spinning rods range from 6' to 7'2. Most around 6'9 to 7'2. If I had to pick just one it would be a 7 footer. With that said if I really liked a brand or specific rod I wouldn't let length sway mu decision. Quote
d-camarena Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 I went with a 7ft zodias and a stradic ci4+ 1000. I think ill like it. I have a 7ft medium and 7ft medium heavy zodias already. Thise are my 3 set ups 1 Quote
