punch Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I fished the Ned this past weekend pretty heavily on a deep, very clear lake in Northern MInnesota. I tossed it from 15' down to 30' and caught quite a few fish on it. Easily 20. I was using the TRD and the mushroom head. The one thing I noticed though was the size of the fish were on the smaller side. I fished the same area's with a t-rigged biospawn exo stick worm and caught less fish than the Ned, but they were overall bigger fish. For some reason the little bass were destroying the Ned, while the bigger fish wanted a bigger presentation. I still had a lot of fun fishing it. It's something I found you can fish vertically or cast it out and hop it back in. Either way is pretty fun. I was using a Veritas medium light spinning rod with 6lb line. I only lost rigs when the occasional northern pike would take a swipe at it. I'm definitely keeping the Ned in my rotation for my finesse rod. Nice change up from a shakey head and drop shot. Quote
Super User MickD Posted August 5, 2015 Super User Posted August 5, 2015 For all you guys who need help on finding Ned rigs, do an internet search for ned rig, then follow your nose to figure out what it is and where to buy. It's not that hard. Quote
kudagra Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I've actually just turned the bait and put the jig hook back into the TRD like you would hook any other worm weedless. Just get it as straight as possible. It still worked and picked up almost no weeds. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted August 7, 2015 Super User Posted August 7, 2015 There is a weedless jighead on the way, it was one of the pics from ICAST in a Bass article. If you want a bigger bait try the SK Zero stick. It is a senko KO made out of the same material as the TRD. Allen Quote

Check out the 3-pounder I caught while filming the Ned rig... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/ned-rig.html Just caught a 3 lber myself on the ned rig today because i only put 2 fish in the boat in 2 hours. 2nd cast and hooked into a 3 lber. First decent fish I have caught on the ned rig, and boy am i impressed with those mushroom head jigs. I thought for sure that small hook would be bent out, but it held the fish on just as it should have . Quote
GetBent Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Went fishing a couple of days ago and wasn't catching anything in my hot spots. Got desperate and decided to try the Ned rig for the 1st time. I didn't stay them but didn't get skunked. Caught about a 2.5lbs bass and a 14" crappie. Pretty sure I missed a few crappie but I don't blame the lure for that. Currently trying to find a good stout jig head with keeper. The zman shroom head wasn't all that great. Quote
Hurricane Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I absolutely love it.. Caught some big smallies yesterday on it. Quote
brown12687 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Caught 3 LMB's on the ned rig today in about 20 minutes. They were on the smaller side, but it was effective. Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Guys, I'm thinking the Neko rig is basically the same deal but cheaper to rig. It is really effective. P.S. I do not use fancy expensive nail weights, just drywall screws. Quote
paleus Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 If you want a weedless NedRig, just rig it like a shaky head using the mushroom jig head. Run the hook in the tip of the bait then back out, then bury the tip of the hook in the bait. Quote
