bnwcrankin Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 you got me looking a little with this post. That stuff is only 24 bucks a quart. Might be worth the money to give it a try... Quote

BIG M Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 flex coat is a 2 part rod finish. You can keep all the 1 part stuff, I used every polyurathane in the hardware store and none compare. Quote
Desultory Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I'm sorry, but what's the point of boasting about a "new finish" if you're unwilling to share anything specific about it? I don't get it. Quote

whittler Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Count me in with Marty on using epoxy. I have a cabinet full of finishes that I thought at the time of purchase were the real deal but most do not hold up in the water or to the abuse a crankbait gets. From Dick Nites to polys to automotive type clears have not found anything that matches the strenght, durability and finish of epoxy. If you can't measure properly, mix properly, apply properly and wait untill it cures properly then do not use epoxy. On the other hand if you do not need a durable finish that will withstand immersion in water and not peel off or turn yellow within a week then give me a call I'm sure I have a partial can of about any type of finish. Been doing this a long time and I have a bucket full of mistakes to prove it. Quote
RhodyBass Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I'll stick with flex coat. I've never used flex coat but from what i've read about it it is very similar to the finish i use. I use Devcon Quote

Seems to me that since the OP hasn't responded to this question yet has found the time to post several other places that there really wasn't much to boast about and was instead just being...well, I won't say what he was being. I'm new here, after all. Thanks anyway, "Dave". Quote
