I have a bait that needs the lip replaced and was wondering what the best way to attach it is?  Will normal all-purpose glue like Gorilla Glue work or is there a particular brand you all recommend?  I don't have a way to glue/seal/paint/epoxy/clearcoat etc etc, just hoping to slather some kind of over-the-counter adhesive on the bait and plastic lip where it'll hold firmly.  Let me know, thanks!

Crank bait?

Good luck.  Those lips are subjected to such extreme pressure that I seriously doubt that any glue will work

I would try marine grade 2 part epoxy.  If anything will work that will.  The problem with glue or Goop, is it has flex in it.  Epoxy, especially marine grade 2 hour cure, hardens to plastic (basically).  They sell it at Home Depot, get the stuff that cures white.

If the lip is broken then use weldon by ips.  They have many formulas from water to thick.  I used 16 a lot and 4 is very thin. It will be as good as new as long as its acrylic to acrylic mating.  This is the same stuff they use to hold together million gallon aquariums.  I have done this on many of the clear lips and they will be money.  If its anything other than the clear bill section forget it.

It's the clear bill piece that came off cleanly on a topwater where I'm getting a new bill sent to me.  No residue or nothing to clean, just a bill to put into the slot that I need to hold into place.  For the 2 ton epoxy how does that work, do i use it like glue? or do i glue the bill to the bait, then cover the base with the epoxy to seal it/hold it in place?

Whatever the materials, most custom builders use epoxy to glue in their lips.  Any 30 minute epoxy will work.  If the lip had to be cut out of a wood bait and there is extra space in the slot to fill, you can use an epoxy paste like Rod Bond paste epoxy, which will not flow out of the lip like liquid epoxies tend to do.  In a pinch you can use Super Glue on a plastic bait with plastic lip.  It forms a great bond but is somewhat prone to breaking the glue joint due to impacts.

Fill the lip slot with epoxy with a piece of wire and then insert the dry lip into the slot.  The excess will squeeze out the rear sides of the slot where you can wipe it away neatly.

Epoxy for sure.

Gorilla glue expands as it dries, so it's not a good option.
