rubba bubba Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Knowing my penchant for colors, I struggled with a color combo (unlike black, not everything goes with blue) for this gorgeous SC4 blank. I finally settled on silver and built this bad boy up. Note, my woodworking past makes me prefer cork with lots of grain which, ironically, ends up being the cheaper cork. Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Very nice! Yes, that SC4 is great blank. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted August 27, 2009 Super User Posted August 27, 2009 That's a sharp looking color scheme. I built a LTB for a customer that wanted the wraps to match his Sol. Ended up using Sunburst with color preserver. It actually looked pretty nice. The orange really popped against that blue blank. Quote
Super User flechero Posted August 27, 2009 Super User Posted August 27, 2009 I like it! I wouldn't have thought to drop that little yellow accent in it. Looks cool. Nice job. I went with Cobalt (no CP) and just a few single turn inlays of metallic silver. But it goes nicely with the 50MG that on it. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted August 27, 2009 Super User Posted August 27, 2009 Nice work all!... I'm waiting for the new North Fork Composites blanks to get to Karen for my next build... Tight Wraps All!! Quote
Clark Stewart Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I can't enjoy the rod for fear that a car is gonna drive through the picture and crush the rod - driveway? really? Quote

I had a blue but felt blue on blue would be too close to factory looking as they like nice dark wraps which when finished, hide the mistakes. The light colored metallics have no such forgiveness. Yours looks pretty darn sharp, though. Oh and that yellow is actually metallic gold. shfishinsticks - got any pics of the LTB with sunburst you built? I bet that was pretty hot looking. Quote
ernel Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Looks great. Very nice choice of colors. Eric Quote

I painted the blank white at every location that there was to be a wrap to help maintain the bright color. Here's a a very poor pic of it before I applied the finish. Here's another crappy pic of it after being in service for 3 years. Quote
MARSH MASTER Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Very nice build it realy stands apart. RM all this hype about the NFC blanks has me holdin out also. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 That blue looks great! Some nice work Quote
Captain Rhino Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I really like the coloration! Awesome job on the rod. Quote
