Sunline Shooter Defier Nylon Monofilament

I had a few questions about this line.  I have never used a Co-poly line before.  I know there are some differences depending on each line.  

 

1) So does anyone know if this line floats or sink?

 

2) How is the sensitivity compared to fluorocarbon?

 

Any help would be appreciated.

It fishes more like a typical mono than it does a co poly. It doesn't have that somewhat brittle feel to it that some Co polys do. It's got some stretch so it won't be as sensitive as a quality, low stretch fluorocarbon. With that being said it is the absolute best line I've ever used for treble hook baits. It handles so well it's almost odd, casts like a dream, and doesn't have excessive stretch like Invivx. Price isn't to bad if you back 3 reels. I'm referring to the green Defier, not the Armilo. Whole different animal there.

I have only used the Defier Armilo and it does float. I have used it for all my mono needs. It is a small dia. line made to break nearer the stated line test. It is supple enough to cast well but without line issue. It has moderate stretch. I used it down in Mexico without any line problems. Abrasion & knot strength is good.

Awesome thanks for the reply.  You are correct I am talked about the Green as well.  Glad to hear you like it so much for trebles because that is what I plan on using it for.  I was hoping to use it for 1/4-3/8 traps, 1.5s and other square bills, then also poppers and walking style baits.  

 

It sure is expensive but I use cheap mono backing so yes I would plan to get 3 spools out of it.

From what I've read it cast like a dream.  Again, you are correct that its breaking strength is rated pretty accurate as compared to Yo Zuri which is much higher than the rating.

you want a good co-polymer line that's strong, very good handling ,  low memory ,and plus it's  inexpensive , try some Izorline XXX , they now make a green line (golden green ) in addition to clear and smoke . i use the heavier pound test lines (20,25, & 30) for throwing swimbaits and love the stuff . i buy it in the 1/4 spools (670 yards approx.) for around $14 ...

I agree, Izorline, P line, and McCoy make good Co polys, but they all have significant stretch compared to both Defier lines. Standard Defier also just handles and casts so well it's crazy. I love it for burning lipless cranks in the 13 lb test. I also use 11 lb test for jerkbaits. I have zero knocks on this line and I can usually find something to rag on.

I have some on a jig rod in the 19lb test. The stretch isn't bad, sensitivity is great, cast great, it's just a really good all around line in my experience. 

 

Great to hear, this rod will also serve as a backup light jig/t-rig rod as called for.

I've actually have been wanting to try this line for a while. I may pick up a spool whenever I make a TW order.

 

I will say Izorline XXX is pretty good stuff. I like Mono and Copolys for treble hook baits and fluoro for everything else and 15lb Izorline XXX is my go to line for squarebills and lipless cranks

I will say Izorline XXX is pretty good stuff. I like Mono and Copolys for treble hook baits and fluoro for everything else and 15lb Izorline XXX is my go to line for squarebills and lipless cranks

 

I'm torn between the 13 and 15lb test myself.  I'm leaning towards the 13, but still unsure.

I've been using P-Line CX and been very happy with it. I'm open minded so I'll give the Izorline a try when I have to re spool.

Yes this is great line I’ve had trouble with it once the whole spool must have been a bad spool I called Sunline and emailed them they treated me like I didn’t know anything very bad customer service but overall it’s great line I continue to use it it’s that good
