ThatFishin'Guy Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Any folding pocket knife. Why? Cause they're cheap and can fit in my pockets Quote
Jon G Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Boomerang Snip. I've never used a tool that cuts braid so easily. Quote

k3bass Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Mini craftsman side cutters. Cuts limp braid with ease. If they get dull just exchange them for a new pair. Quote
tater555 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Another vote for the boomerang snips! They are small, effecient, and are retractable. What else could you ask for? I keep mine on my belt loop, and it is awesome not havin to dig thought my pockets to find my knife every time I need to re-tie Quote
Super User Further North Posted July 26, 2015 Super User Posted July 26, 2015 I'll add another + for the Boomerang - I'e got a dozen sets of 3M scissors on the boat and the Boomerangs have replaced them for everything but wire leaders. Quote
Big C Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Go with a lighter. That way if you ever find yourself in a survival situation you can always switch lures. Quote
AdamsEye Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I use a few sets of titanium scissors sold in the craft isle of most department stores. They cost about $1.00, are plenty sharp enough, and strong enough to last you a few season no problem. Fiskars and Westcott are two good brands to look for. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted July 26, 2015 Super User Posted July 26, 2015 I have two Boomerang snips, and some kids' Fiskars. Both cut braid well. The Boomerangs are out on the water with me. They're not 100% perfect, but darn good for the money. 1 Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted July 26, 2015 Super User Posted July 26, 2015 Childrens fiskars work just fine. they work extremely well !! i have 2 pairs i use all the time and they are both 7 plus years old and still cut braid great . plus they only cost under $4 a pair ..... 1 Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 This: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-Steel-Fishing-Pliers-Split-Ring-Cutters-Hook-Remover-Scissors-Tackle-/130982690552?hash=item1e7f2d3ef8 Cheap, but amazing! 1 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted July 27, 2015 Super User Posted July 27, 2015 The best thing i've ever used are the Evolution Gorilla Pliers, but they're pricey (mine were free). Otherwise, the boomerang snips work very well. Quote
WPCfishing Posted July 27, 2015 Author Posted July 27, 2015 I have Lews Pliers that cut great but, I can't get close enough to the knot easily. The Boomerang's seem like a good choice. I'm going with them. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Boomerang snips are the best line cutters on the planet and it gets big bonus points since it has the retractable cord and you can attach it to a belt clip/keychain caribiner so it's always handy without having to fish through your gear for a cutting tool. One thing though is that it will dull over time so you need to use different parts of the snip until it's time to get a new one. I typically buy a new one at the start of every fishing season, but it's probably my single best investment every year that I have no qualms about. Quote
icatchlittlebass Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Forgot my scissors at my house when I went out, just a helpful tip to some of you guys, but the top of a dip can, the bottom edge of it will cut the line for you if you are in a pinch Quote
boostr Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I use the Rapala braid shears, and never had a problem with them. They cut pretty good. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted July 27, 2015 Super User Posted July 27, 2015 I need a cutter, Which cutter do you prefer and why? A pair of Fiskars scissors from the Supermarket. $2. Quote
