Putting life into an old bait. (Lazy Ike)

Hey guys,

I was digging through the tackle box that my Dad had left me of all his stuff from being a kid, and I found this oddly shaped lure I had never seen before.  After a little research, I found out it's a Lazy Ike.  The hooks on it were mangled and rusted, and it was covered in muck, but after clipping the hooks off and wiping it down with some Alchohol, it looks like a fun bait, but I don't like the color.

I don't want to spend an arm and a leg, and I might be up for paying someone to do it for me, but I'd like to see this little guy repainted.  I want to try it out.

Any ideas for a screaming paintjob?  Or has anyone repainted any of these and can post some examples?

I had looked into this, but there aren't any real images to go off of.  I think their banner photo shows good eye placement, but I'm thinking I'd like to see a bluegill pattern or a perch pattern go on it.  Both of those colors are great up in my area.
