SNK Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Just want to see peoples opinions on what group they would choose...(Some of you may not choose either, your opinions are welcome also.) Need two rods that I have opening's for in my aresenal (because I sold off a few). I need one for a jig rod/Trig rod with total weight ranging between 1/2-5/8, and one rod for senko/t-rigs < 3/8. Reels that I have available to put on these rods are a Chornarch 50E, Curado 50E, and a Curado 200G. Here are my groupings on the two rod brands/models I have decided upon, I have done a lot of research on them, both are highly regarded, so it's time to see what they are all about. Unfortunately, I can only get two and not all four. I am not sure yet what reel I will put on which rod. Group A - Megabass Orachi XX Perfect pitch - Jig/Trig - ALX Deputy - Senko/light Trig Group B - Alx Toadface or Dragger - Jig/Trig - Megabass Orachi EMTF - Senko/light Trig Quote
John G Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I would ditch the Curado G and use the two 50's. Quote
Cgrinder Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Orochi XX rods are very hard to beat, especially since you're looking at two of the best/most popular models in the lineup. Quote
masterbass Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I have heard good things about the ALX rods, but I'd go with the 2 megabass rods. Why isn't this one of the options? Is there a $500 budget? Go with the 50e's for both. Quote
kschultz76 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 No experience with the ALXs but based on my experience with the MB Orochi XX I'd just get both the EMTF and the Perfect Pitch. In fact I plan to get the Perfect Pitch very soon. I already have the Jerkbait Special, Spinnerbait Special, Tour Versatile, and Diablo Spec R. Love em all. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted July 24, 2015 Super User Posted July 24, 2015 I may be one of the only members with experience with both lines of rods. My ALX is the Maestro spinning so I can't comment on their casting rods. Their tapers are sort of similar to Megabass so the rods should fee close. Your pairings are correct in terms of the ALX and Orichi XX rod to accomplish what you want. I think you will find the Megabass to be slightly better in terms of feel and balance though it won't be by much. The Orichi XX blanks are incredible and pretty neat looking as well. The difference in price is about $75+ so maybe not a fair fight. The ALX Zolo B rods have very clean builds and have an action and taper that is unique but does a great job of hooking fish and keeping them pinned. I can feel everything I would ever need to. On the flipside the EMTF is one of my favorite rods and is versatile from baits from 5/16 to close to 3/4 oz. Great for weightless plastics, standard jigs, swim jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, small paddle tails swimbaits, and texas rigged baits. I would do Group B and part of that choice is that I enjoy trying new rod lines and that is the only way you will ever know what YOU prefer. If one of the rod lines/brands isn't for you they should fetch a good amt of money if you needed to sell one. Quote
JGBassinAL Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 The EMTF will throw every bait you mentioned exceptionally well. Quote
