Hogs4Dayz Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I want buy a new baitcasting reel around $150. Im gonna be throwing just about everything their is, so I would like a pretty versatile reel. I want the obvious stuff also like a good drag, smooth reeling, and good casting. It would also be great if I could flip/pitch with it, and finally I would love it if it had alot of line storage. I know you can't have all of those things otherwise we would have the perfect reel, but any advice/suggestions would be great!! Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted July 22, 2015 Super User Posted July 22, 2015 I would be purchasing the new Shimano Citica I. You can find it on Tackle Warehouse. Quote

Super User HoosierHawgs Posted July 22, 2015 Super User Posted July 22, 2015 Lew's Tournament Pros are going on sale for $149 with the introduction of the new LFS model. Originally retailed for $200. That would be my suggestion 3 Quote
Jaderose Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 You are going to get many different answers and they are ALL right. You can get a heck of a lot of reel for $150 and MOST of them are high quality. Go to a big box that carries a lot of different brands and check them out. I would NEVER buy something like a reel without handling it first. They become an extension of your hand and you d**n well better be comfortable with it. A $500 reel is useless if it isn't comfortable in your hand and you hate using it. Just my .02. Quote

That would be my suggestion89thI like the lews alot they have been around a while and know what their doing not the mention they look sick. The only problem i see is that they like to say their reels are really light, and i saw a review and the one guy said the spool was alot thinner than his shimanos, thus you get less line storage. And i was wondering if that is a common trait or what? Quote
*Hank Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Get the curado I or the Tatula, both are great reels. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted July 22, 2015 Super User Posted July 22, 2015 First, welcome to BassResource! Second. I'm going with Shimano any day of the week. Have had great success with their reels. 1 Quote
Bruce424 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Checkout revosx. I like them, depending where you look you can get them cheaper than 150. Quote

stkbassn Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Shimano Curado I on Ebay or Citica I on Ebay...both priced below retail on there and both awesome. I've owned the Curado I and handled the Citica the other day in the store. It made me want one. The Tatula Type R is another suggestion or the regular Tatula. All winners Quote
bassbassontherange Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 You'll see more people mentioning the Curado I than any other reel and for good reason. It's something that should provide you excellent all around performance for over a decade. You can find it for well under $150.00 online if you can wait for it to be shipped to you. There are a lot of good reels but it would be my pick at this price point. Quote
newyorktoiowa57 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Revo S is $130 and it works great for me. Quote
boostr Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 You'll like the Lew's BB1, I have 2 they are smooth as butter. Once set up right they will cast a mile. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 24, 2015 Super User Posted July 24, 2015 Curado, hands down. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted July 24, 2015 Super User Posted July 24, 2015 I like my Shimanos, Daiwas, Abus, Lews, etc., but have to tell you the Pinnacle Primmus is an impressive reel at just under $157 shipped. Quote
kschultz76 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Curado I any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Get some bearings to add to the knobs at it adds the cherry on top. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 25, 2015 Super User Posted July 25, 2015 I picked up a Shimano Chronarch for $150 at Gander Mountain. Quote
WPCfishing Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I like the BB1 reels. I have two and one Pro. You can do anything you want with them. Especially the Pro. Quote
