Super User slonezp Posted July 20, 2015 Super User Posted July 20, 2015 I know, hard to believe from someone who is so hated. On my commute home from work today, the guy in front of me hits the car in front of him and I lock up my brakes and don't hit anyone. First thing I do is get out of my truck and ask if everyone is ok. First thing the passenger of the car in front of me and both the driver and passenger of the car that got hit do is get out of their cars and start taking photos of each others and my license plates. Really? The driver of the car in front of me gets out and takes pictures of the plates on the guy who may or may bot have caused the accident, before he sped off. None of them acknowledged the others well being. Is this really what we've become? or do I just have too much love in my heart? 5 Quote
Super User tomustang Posted July 20, 2015 Super User Posted July 20, 2015 Yes. Be prepared to be served cause one of them will blame you and sue 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 20, 2015 Super User Posted July 20, 2015 Maybe they assumed everyone was ok since they were out walking around? Many insurance companies advise to do exactly what they did too which doesn't help the situation. I am with you though, people's health is the first thing on my mind in those situations. 1 Quote
Big C Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 And the say you're "mean". Something similar happened to me years ago. I was walking my dog, when a car going about 30 hits a parked car on the side of the road not of a quarter block away from us. This girl bleeding from her head comes out, scared as all get out asks for help. My mom helps her (as much as she could), my brother calls the paramedics, and I'm standing there holding the dog standing in a puddle, not sure if it was the dog or me (ok not really). But, the ambulance comes, then this lady shows up from the house across the street. She proceeds to not ask any questions, not even look towards this girl on a stretcher and starts taking pictures of her car (which wasn't even that nice) with the sourest look on her face you'd ever see. After the cops and ambulance left we did too, but even now I can't believe that lady's response. 1 Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 Slone we all knew that hard crusty persona was just an act! Knowing that there was an eye witness could come in handy if someone tries to make a dishonest buck. 1 Quote

Thornback Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Lawyers want us all in court. And they encourage photos. Where I live there is a local lawyer who advertises on TV and radio who will send anyone a free throw-away camera. 99% of lawyers are giving the other 1% a bad name. Any lawyers on the Forum care to respond 1 Quote
Crappiebasser Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Man you're getting soft in your old age. The real Slonezp would have cussed them out for making him late getting home, flicked them off, and peeled out. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 That's all well and good but a nice set of fake plates would throw a big monkey wrench into that plan. Taking pictures of a Driver's Lic might be good, unless that's fake too. Of course that never happens. And if the occupants of the vehicle that was struck were injured and not ambulatory or even trapped - the snapped heads would still just keep Taking pictures . . . . Sad. But I'm not bitter. Thornback Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I once witnessed a guy run a stop sign and clip a car in the intersection. Both cars stopped, the driver who ran the stop sign got out, bent his tag down so it couldn't be read, got back in his car and drove off. 2 Quote

quanjig Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Meh, it's grow to be such a disposable society, as long as there were no injuries, I bet those people thought "no harm, no foul" and just waited to see if the other filed a claim! It's all good Slo, you did the right thing, even if those involved were soulless robots!! 1 Quote

zachb34 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I just wrecked my truck. I swerved out of the way of somebody who had moved into my lane would have hit me. The road was wet and I spun out and hit a tree in front of that person who came into my lane. Not a single person stopped neither did 8 cops within 20 minutes. The tree I hit was on a church property and the priest walked out saw it and walked back in. I walked away unharmed, but people really don't care at all anymore. Quote
Last_Cast Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 people just dont care anymore..I've been in a few accidents, reguradless if it was my fault or not, I always ask if the other person/people are okay. You could always fix car damage, or get a car replaced. cant replace a life or limb. Quote

Thornback Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 My wife was driving alone when a guy just suddenly crossed the center line in front of her. Totaled our just-over-one-year-old F150. She wasn't injured, thanks to shoulder harness, seat belt, and air bag. We had only one vehicle and a deputy came to my house and gave me a ride to the scene. When I arrived my wife ran to me crying and asked what we were going to do. My reply, "We'll buy a new truck." Quote
