b_spill Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I was just wanting to see what you guys preferences or favorites are for crankbaits that dive in the 10-15 foot range. I have been searching for different baits in this depth range to throw around bridges and haven't quite found the one. Most, of course, don't necessarily dive to the listed depth unless you have the correct line and rod and all and make the modifications, I know that. I just wanted to see what you guys favorites are for that depth range and any modifications you make to help it produce. I know the Livingston Howeller is synonomous with bridges but I don't really feel like spending that much money on something that can get hung up so easily, although I'd love to buy them. I'm just curious to see you guys opinions. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted July 20, 2015 Super User Posted July 20, 2015 The DT10 is my bread and butter, but balsa baits do not mix well with bridge pillars... 2 Quote
CDMeyer Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I would go with Rapala DT 10 or 14 they are the best! If your looking to save money Bomber us really good as well and if you get hung up your only out 2-3 bucks vs 8-16 on those others 2 Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted July 20, 2015 Super User Posted July 20, 2015 Most guys here said they haven't had much action on there Howeller baits. Not sure on how much you want to spend, bit I would probably buy one of the Arashi Deeps. I really like the squarebills, and would think the Deep models would be similar. 1 Quote

Super User bigbill Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 Rebel BIGCLAW CRAWFISH crankbaits dives to 10ft. There's enough colors to match your local colors. I like the chartruese color at dawn and the evenings. Bomber model A #05 reel it slow. Red, Brown, green any craw color. Rapala jointed countdown. I vertical jig it. Inline spinners mepps #3, #4. When the #3 action slows down out on the #4. 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 The SK 5xd and 6xd should cover those depths pretty well. The DD22, Bomber Fat Free Shad, 6th Sense 300DD and Norman NXS would also be good choices for not a lot of money. 1 Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 In that depth range I like the SK 3XDs and 5XDs, Rapala DT 10s, Spro Little John Baby DDs, Fat Free Shad Juniors, ABT lures Mini X2s, and Rapala Crankin Rap 14s. 1 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 The Norman Deep Little N is a great lure too 2 Quote
DaleGribble Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Dt10s are awesome. Smash is my favorite color. Arashi deeps are also very good and have a great rattle and action. I..very interested in sixth sense deep runners but I've only tried their square bills, which are awesome. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 21, 2015 Global Moderator Posted July 21, 2015 For that 10-15 foot range the Strike King Series 5 and 5XD get the call for me. 2 Quote
travis23 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Strike King XD series and Rapala DT 10 or 14. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 Deep little N and Fat Free Shad . 1 Quote
b_spill Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 Awesome guys, I'll have to try some out. I really wish Xcalibur made more than just squarebills. If they do someone please let me know! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 22, 2015 Global Moderator Posted July 22, 2015 Awesome guys, I'll have to try some out. I really wish Xcalibur made more than just squarebills. If they do someone please let me know! Xcalibur used to make a couple different jerkbaits, a couple different rattle baits, poppers, walkers, they were all great. I believe the company is being absorbed into the Booyah name now though since the rattle baits and poppers are both gone and reintroduced under the Booyah lineup. 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted July 22, 2015 Super User Posted July 22, 2015 I prefer SK xd's....the 5xd gets the most use for me. It gets down to 12' just fine on a long cast, and 15+ feet long lining 1 Quote
b_spill Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 Thanks Bluebasser86, I did not know that. I have some 5xds but they just haven't quite produced like I would like them to. That is for me personally, but a great bait no doubt! Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted July 22, 2015 Super User Posted July 22, 2015 Rapala DT 10's and 14's are good as well as Bommer Fat Free Shad. Also, if you're fishing in that depth range invest in a lure retriever. I suggest the telescopic kind as they pay for themselves the first few uses. The one I have extends to 24' I believe and I've lost very few baits due to hangups since I got one. 1 Quote
