So i went out fishing this past saturday and everything was working fine but then as I was paddling across the lake, my screen suddenly got foggy like some moisture got behind the screen.  The unit is kept inside and the only water it has been exposed to was a downpour i was stuck in the week before.  From what I have read, the unit is waterproof so this shouldn't be happening.  It did clear up in a few hours and it was still working fine the entire time.  I am just wondering if i should return the unit or if any of you have had this same problem.

I'll post a picture later on when I get home.

What did you hear back on this, flyfisher?

I called and they said it is not terribly uncommon and can be caused by a variety of different reasons.  They said i could send it in for the to take a look at but i never did due to a bunch of other stuff going on.  I have used it a bunch of times since then and it hasn't happened again so who knows why it happened that one time.  I hope not sending it in doesn't bite me in the butt later on

Do it before the warranty expires. Moisture is NOT good and is unusual. They are supposed to be water proof. Make sure you fully seat the memory card door so the gasket seals the slot.

You could have a defective gasket--that is the sponge thingy on the door.

It is sort of small and not as convenient as the larger units.

I have removed and reinstalled that door on a display model many times. Just did a software update for one a couple of days ago at a Gander Mt.

Have you done the recent software update? Some great features included with that.

I have never even opened the door for the memory card so i haven't messed with it.  I'll send it back here soon though since my fishing days will not be as often.  I haven't updated it yet, but i might as well wait now till i send this unit back.

thanks for the helpful info as always

After researching this model here and other places and reading glowing reviews almost universally, and driving over to Cabela's today to play with one in person, I'm about to hit submit on an order for one.  By ordering via website, I save myself $50.

I've probably had 6 or 7 different sonar units over the years. All of them have fogged up occasionally.
