Let's just say I believe in the Ned Rig now! This pond has produced a lot of bass for me with finesse presentations, so I was excited to field test the bait. It's a very pressured pond, the bass see a ton of lures, and the simple appeal of the Ned Rig was too good to be passed up. Caught five more chunky fish, but nothing like this one. Carp were out feeding all day, and I was 95% positive I had a carp on.....until it jumped.  As much as I would have liked to land it on my new rod, I think it's a testament that I fought it on a Berkley Lightning rod and a Bass Pro Megacast reel.......super cheap combo, the reel was given to me, I'm planning on upgrading it, but hey: it got the job done!

Funnest fight ever ;)

It's hard to get perspective when I'm taking the pic, but she was 5 even.

With those big marble eyes, she looks every bit of five

What size head/hook were you using? Looks huge for a Ned rig.

Say it with me now, the Ned rig only catches numbers of little fish  :laugh5:

Ned himself wouldn't upgrade.  He's written a few times about the "humble" tackle he uses day in and day out.  Check out his Midwest Finesse blog.

That's the 1/8 Shroomz head with the T.R.D. Only size TW had in stock. Fish didn't seem to care :D. Caught a lot of fish on it. I already need some more, already lost 2 of 3 jigheads, unfortunately

That's a healthy hard fighter, possibly the most fun size to catch IMO

New shroomz heads coming out with wire weedguards. Which I need badly. I have gone through a few TRDs this summer only becuse of hang-ups that cost me the head as well. Is there is any other way you can actually "use up" a TRD, aside from having it melt or dissove from contact with some other plastics or chemical? .

I finally got my weedless version perfected, but I mainly fish riprap so not a lot of need for it. Once I finally get to make another trip down to Table Rock or Bull Shoals I'm sure I'll be glad I have them.

Once a TRD is too torn up to be used properly, that's when it's used up to me and gets tossed in the trash.

Oh, it's the big Shroomz head, not the finesse Shroomz head, I got you now. So it is a lot of hook for that little bait but hey it's obviously working for you! One nice thing about the little hook is you can usually straighten them enough to get them back if you get snagged.
