In my entire working career I have never taken 1 day off due to an injury.  I have played golf on crutches, bowled after being run over by an outdoor tandem hi-lo, and have gone fishing when I could barely walk.  It's been a week since I've had a rod in my hand, or been out of the house except to see the doctor.

Started off 3 weeks ago, I went to Arizona/California/Mexico, actually was feeling better then did some striper fishing in the Colorado River.  Fell down on the tram in the Dallas airport on the way back home, my lower back has been in pain since then.  I did fish everyday once I got home for a couple of hours until about a week ago, caught a few nice snook.  Pain has not subsided but I'm starting to get little flexibility, hope to be back in action by the end of the week, if my wife doesn't kill me first.

Man..... I hate those. I had one a few months ago had to go to the chiro to put everything back in it's place. Felt much better after a couple of days.

Sorry to hear that..

Take it from someone who has had back problems such as yours for years.....

STRETCH...STRETCH...and STRETCH again.

Sure you can take pain pills, muscle relaxers, massage's etc.

All that my help short term, but long term you have to STRETCH that puppy out.

2 years ago I had 2 vertibre fused and I'm convinced the only thing that saved me from having to have another is Stretching.

I hope you feel better soon

I sympathize with anyone who has back pain. Here's hoping you are back to normal soon. About two years ago I "snapped" my back out when trying to lift my boat trailer. The pain was terrible. Turning over in bed I would let out an ear-piercing scream. I slept in a chair for five nights. I didn't know a back could hurt so bad. After several trips to a chiro I decided to cancel him and just try to work it out myself. The chiro wasn't doing me any good. I even purchased a Teeter (device to hang upside down by your feet). That seemed to help stretch my spine but I was developing vertigo in a serious way. Sold the Teeter. Over time my back corrected itself. During this time I refused to baby myself and kept moving and doing little things that I could. Today I am back to normal and I wish the same for you.

Thanks for the well wishes

Have had back issues for 40 years, never in the hip area. I stretch daily, my doc thinks it may be an age issue, parts wear out, finally found a dr I have faith in.

Sounds like a couple of things.  First is, you are just a tough old buzzard who plays through the pain, or second, it is the old saying, "No sense, no feeling."  Or, it could be a combination of both.

Take care of yourself so you can get back to doing the things you enjoy without having to struggle to do them.

Do you do the jack-knife style crossover stretch?  It's the only thing that can relieve my lower back pain.  I get badly misaligned and have to crossover pop it back in or it becomes excruciating as the tension builds.  Sometimes if I throw it out bad I have to rest for a day or two and then see my chiro for massage/realignment if I can't express it myself.

Can't say it enough though- if you can't get it to "let go"...  Go see a really good chiro.  You will know if there is nagging tension where you feel like you have to stretch it out but can't.  I went through two months of not being able to stand up and with constant "binding" pain before I bit the bullet and did it- like flipping a switch I tells ya.  People who are healthy will tell you it's witch doctory but man...  No BS I was a hunched over old man for two months, walked out pain free.  If it's black magic I don't even care.  It's not a cure-all but when I need it (if i hurt myself bad) I go.

Man I am sorry to hear that. Don't rush the healing or you might hurt it again. When I strain my back it usually takes about a month before I can move around without pain.

I've been seeing chiropractors over 40 years along with full body stretching.   I had some pretty good ones back in Detroit that kept me in check, I had problems due to my occupation.  This problem is something I have never experienced before, after many years of search for a good chiro in Fla I think I finally found one.  I am responding to 3 times a week treatment flexibility has improved but pain is still there.  It's 3 steps forward and 2 back.

The very best chiropractor I ever met it this man in Lake Chapala Mexico http://www.chapalaclub.com/2010/06/they-scoffed-when-she-told-them-a-holistic-doctor-at-lake-chapala-diagnosed-her-with-leukemia-but-then-they-tested-her/

Not only was his adjustment fantastic but he diagnosed a blood infection just by feeling my back.  Of course my MD. in Detroit thought he was a quack util he ran a blood test, the infection was true. Giving a thought about hopping on plane to fly down there if things don't improve.

I am not a big fan of chiro, and have found a massage to work quite well. I go once a month in the winter, and hardly go in the summer. When I get real stiff, I walk out of there feeling really good. I get 1 hour massages and sometimes hot stones too. Before you fly to mexico, see if a massage helps at all.

Bad news for this camper, had an MRI and have a fracture on L4.  That's the best news I got, the rest wasn't so good.
