I, for one, am totally fed up with the weather this fishing season. Fronts moving in and out almost daily. Most of us haven't seen three days in a row of stable weather since May. I believe it's time to voice our concerns to the Man in charge. I'm normally one that doesn't like to bother him with trivial, personal matters, but, as this affects more than just myself, He should be made aware of our concerns.

So the next time you talk to Him to thank him for all his blessings, why not add a little request for a week-end or two of stable weather before Labor Day? If we all do this (I pray that you all do thank him on a regular basis) and maybe mention it to a friend or two, I truly believe He will acknowledge that it is a major concern of his people. I also believe that He has His own itinerary and acts at His own pace, but it couldn't hurt. Could it?

Yeah it's been tough here this summer.  Zero stability, I'd love for a settled weather pattern...even for just one week.  It's been one weather event after another in my neck of the woods.

I feel you on this weather. Only a few hours south of you, and the weather has been up and down. Today it was blue bird skies, a cloud here or there. The sump pump had finally stopped pumping, and there it goes, pouring down and lightning! Sump pump is getting its fair share of work in.

I hear ya. Was planning to get out today. But changed my mind. I like fishing in the rain, T storms not so much.

 What really annoys me is when the forecast calls for 5-10 MPH winds, but when you hit the water it's more like 20 MPH.

Fishing around the constantly changing weather is challenge  enough, but taking a vacation day to fish what's supposed to be a nice day, only to find the weather people got it wrong again, stinks.

Try living in So Fla!

With the best Bass fishing on the planet you have to plan your trip around storm clouds every day in June, July, Aug and Sept.

Add to that a min of 92deg and humidity so high you're sweating buckets before you even get to the water.

Being originally from the So Side of Chicago, I watch the weather up there every day, I know what you are saying.

But what you guys have up there even tho it makes it tough, it's not every day for month after month.

I'm on my way up there now for the opening of Bears camp and was hoping to get a few days of fishing in before we head home...I sure hope it gets better in the next 2 weeks...Maybe I should hit my knees a little earlier

I agree I'm tired of the rain. It's not the rain that keeps me home its the lightning.

What's been killing me this year is the southeast wind every single day.  That wind brings in a ton of seaweed, much of matted, makes fishing difficult.  The southeast wind does not promote bait like a northeast wind, there just isn't a lot of fish around now.  This has been my worst fishing season ever down here.

 

I just got back from Arizona/California/ Mexico, 105-110 everyday and it was humid a few days.   Humid or not I felt much better there physically than I do here in South FLA, probably less bothered by allergies.

Before I go out I have been checking the flash flood warnings.  This stuff about 3 to 4 inches of rain in two hours stinks.

Here we have what my friend calls the "Daily Downpour," if we're lucky it'll just be once.  The only thing that changes is whether it's thunderstorms or on-&-off showers all day long.

 

I really, really, REALLY hate to insert a topic that might trigger an argument or bring politics into this, but does anybody believe in Global Warming yet?  Something is obviously wrong.  Try turning off a few lights, walk somewhere, try to use a little less gas.  You know what they say-- "The Lord helps those who help themselves."

 

Hunters and anglers have been at the forefront of Conservation before.  Why not now, considering we have more to lose?

The weather is always changing and every year is different...Ironically, that's the only thing consistent about it.  For me, that's part of the fun.

I been talking to him, he told me to shut up and go fishing at this spot I normally pass up. Turns out the guy was onto something, because even a few hours after a massive rain I caught a few fish in muddy waters.

 

But on the reel, we have had some decent stable weather, just never seems to be when I got a chance to get out this year. It was nice for 2 weeks, I get the okay to go later that day and the sky's open up. I did have the lake to myself though, which is always a plus.

It's been nothing but sunny and warm/hot in my neck of the woods.  Nary a drop of rain in months. We're experiencing the first drought in decades.  High temp/low rain records have been smashed many times over this year so far, and we're headed into the warmest/driest part of the year.  Suffice to say, the fire danger is way off the charts.

  The one state park I bank fish at, Raccoon Lake, was actually closed down Friday because the lake level is super high.  They evacuated all the campers and closed down all the ramps and whole park.  The water level is only a few feet from the main highway.  Wow.   I don't recall this park every being completely closed down like this before.   I would love to take my kayak and launch it somewhere inside the park and paddle around but since it's officially closed down I would probably get kicked out.  

 

 Yeah, the rain has been bad this year.  Thankfully the gnats have gone away at the strip pits I fish at.

Back in the early 90's we had a bunch of rain, here in Missouri and elsewhere around the midwest.  Caused a massive flood.  Water in the Missouri river channel was basically bluff to bluff.  I got ragged at by State National Guard troops for playing in a bass boat, trolling up and down the streets of a town that was flooded - but I digress.

 

I was working at a hardware store at the time.  There were 70 or so preachers that I talked to on a pretty regular basis - they had charge accounts for their churches for maintenance supplies and stuff like that.  Anyway, I told them all the same thing, i.e. "You are the guy with the hotline to God - do something or we're going to have a major flood that is going to cause many problems and spoil a lot of bar-b-ques this summer."  Anyway, the result is well known - the flood happened.

 

Turns out that none of those preachers knew how to talk to a rain god.    . . . . .   It is a pitiful commentary on religious tolerance in my neighborhood that not one of the preachers that I dealt with weekly thought that joke was funny.
