Smithfield and Watchaug in Charlestown were both productive if you knew how to fish. I'm pretty sure that Wallum Lake is reciprocal both Ma. and R.I. but I'm not sure why you'd want to go there. Took a trip out to Worden's pond on Friday the 4th but it was so windy we headed back in after an hour or so no luck. 2 big guys in a Crawdad and decent sized waves are not ideal. Quote
Janderson45 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I fish Rhode Island quite frequently actually, one of my fishing buddies lives down in the Narragansett/ Charlestown area. I've posted a few reports of my trips to Wordens pond in Wakefield in the "eastern MA fishing reports" thread as I'm from eastern MA and do the majority of my fishing there. I have also fished watchaug numerous times this summer, that one is in Burlingame state park which is in Charlestown. Indian lake in Narragansett is also a nice little fishery, both watchaug and Indian have largemouth and smallmouth, Wordens doesn't have smallmouth but it does yield an occasional very nice northern pike. Barbers pond is another nice little manageable fishery in that same area of the state more or less (Rhode Island is small enough that anything is within reach) Have also fished Tucker's pond in Wakefield with decent results. Let me know if you want any more info on any of these places, just thought I'd let you know most of the places I hit when I'm in the area. As others have stated there's also very good saltwater fishing in southern RI especially around reefs in the watch hill area and off of block island. If you don't own a boat surf casting is also very productive in many areas. Quote
WPCfishing Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 RI is a best kept secret... The bass fishing here is fantastic if you know what you're doing. The wind on Wordens is out of the South West almost all the time so fish that end of the lake if you're in a small craft. You have to work the reeds and pads. The only thing you'll catch in open water there is pick or pike. Oh, check the weather conditions before you head out. It will help you determine which lake to go to and what to plan on using. The web is loaded with maps and information for all the lakes. If you have a smart phone buy the Navionics boating app. You will reap major benefits. Good Luck! Quote
Maze Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Im a RI'r and There are a lot of great spots to Bass Fish, my go to's are: John L Curran Fishing Area, Stump Pond, Waterman Reservior, Olney Pond, Randal Pond, Watchaug Pond and surprisingly enough, Roger Williams Park. Wordens is to windy for my small craft and Indian Lake is very shallow with tons of boulders so it can be tough to navigate. Quote
