JeziHogg Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 So I've made my mind up on a swimbait rod (TBC710HF). Max weight ill probably use is about 3oz for lures. Whatbsize shimano reel should I get and what would be a good line size to spool it with? Quote
JeziHogg Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 Sorry? Wrong forum. Can someone please move me? Quote
Super User deep Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 300/ 301. 15-20# mono/ copoly/ FC. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 the curado 300/301e are awesome if you can find a good used one. sometimes you can find some deals on them too. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 Calcutta 300D or Conquest 300 and 20 lb CXX. Quote
Klebs01 Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 I have the tbc710hf with a Calcutta 300d and 20lb CXX. It's great for anything I've tied on including 8 inch savage line through swim baits and down to spinnerbaits that may have been an ounce total. Why are you going with the punchin rod instead of the swimbait rod? Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 18, 2015 Super User Posted July 18, 2015 I HATE ROUND REELS. So, if you are like me a Curado 300 would be the choice in the more "modern" line up. For swimbaiting I have a Citica 200DSV spooled with 17 lbs Big Game. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 19, 2015 Global Moderator Posted July 19, 2015 300 Curado or Cardiff is are both good swimbait reels that will handle what you're wanting to throw. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted July 19, 2015 Super User Posted July 19, 2015 Actually use a 200 curado e with that rod, 20lb fluro/mono Have a 301e, it's just too big for me to use but it's still a very nice reel, looking to get rid of it. Quote
