Fish AZ Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I've been reading the posts about mounting a swivel seat in a jonboat. Very helpful. But one question doesn't seem to be answered:Where (along the bench) should I put the seat? Right now, I sit off-set to the left (portside) to run my transom mount trolling motor. I will likely be adding a small gas motor soon. The trolling motor is off-set to the right. If I want to center the gas motor (or the electric) where should I mount the seat? I am assuming that it will be different than just sitting on the bench when it comes to operating a motor, right? Or am I just over-thinking this? Quote
Super User Darren. Posted July 16, 2015 Super User Posted July 16, 2015 Welcome aboard! I think wherever it is most comfortable for you to both sit/fish and work the motor. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 I use these. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/attwood-bench-style-seat-mount?repChildCatid=10770 You can slide it back and forth where you want it. They make them with longer slides to give you more side to side movement if you do the search. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 Fish from the middle one & run from the right! 1 Quote
Nelson Wormefeller Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I have a pivoting seat in the middle, and just turn sideways a little when I work the rear mounted trolling motor. I can't say what I would do if I used a gas outboard though because I don't have one sorry. 1 Quote
