kawiguy08 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Does anyone in the Kansas City area work on reels. I bought a used reel a while ago and I just bought a rod to put it on, well I just found out the tension knob does not work. The only way to use the reel is have the brakes all the way on 10 and even still I have to use alot of thumb just to keep it from backlashing. Thank you for any help. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 16, 2015 Super User Posted July 16, 2015 Try flipping the shim inside the cast control cap. Quote

RangerDanger Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 PM Danger Ranger I don't have a source for reel repair. Quote
kawiguy08 Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 I found the issue. This little black piece that goes in the pinion gear (I think it is the pinion shaft)is broke. It looks like it was snapped. Now I just have to get a new one and I should be back in business. Quote
Chris S Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I don't have a source for reel repair. ya but you can east coast it and fix it! Quote
Hannzo24 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Look into Mondo Tackle. He has a very skilled guy that does his reel repairs. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted July 28, 2015 Super User Posted July 28, 2015 Contact Delaware Valley Tackle. Like J Franco said: their sponsor link is on the right side of this forum. I've had several reels serviced/upgraded by Mike and am very satisfied with his work/pricing/service. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 29, 2015 Global Moderator Posted July 29, 2015 DVT does a great job and is a site sponsor. Raymond at Mondo has a guy that does it but haven't heard or seen anything he's worked on. Quote
