Brush Hogs Vs Rage Craw

Lately I've been using brush hogs and have been tearing the fish up. However, I usually fish the same pond and feel like the fish are starting to get used to them. One of my buddies suggested (not really suggested, almost made me) go and try rage craws and said how amazing they were. Since I know nothing about them really, what colors do you guys find the most effective and how do you fish them? Going to get some later today.

Keep in mind that no bite stays hot forever.  Fish go through feeding cycles that I don't begin to understand.

 

There are times when they'll hit a clothespin with a treble hook, and times when they'll turn up their nose at everything known to man.

 

Change your bait.  Change your presentation. 

 

Fishing is a puzzle.  The more you practice, the better you get at solving the riddle.  Keep in mind, there will be days when there is no "solution".

 

Don't ignore those hunches that circulate in your head.  That thing between your ears is a computer that is constantly calculating and processing information it has absorbed over your lifetime.

Can't go wrong with green. I like to fish then on a good ole t-rig but my faviorte way is on a stand head up head/shaky head. I like the mega strike EWG and the yum Ed or whatever it's called.

While the rage craw are one of my favorite baits, if they aren't hitting the brush hogs, the rage craw may not be your solution. Try it out, but be ready to change it up. I would fish something completely different than the two. Personally I would throw a big worm or a more subtle worm.

I keep a supply of green pumpkin, bama craw, blue craw, and Falcon Lake Craw.  I caught my PB on a t-rigged green pumpkin rage craw.

The colors I mostly use are Blue bug, bama craw, green pumpkin, junebug.

Two very different class of soft plastics, brush hog is a creature, Rage craw is a craw about 1/2 the size of a brush hog.

Creatures are usually T-rigged, can be a big jig trailer, craws are jig trailers that can be T-rigged.

Colors, use something similar that is working for you with brush hogs.

I have caught fish with brush hogs but they dont seem to produce as consistent my for me. I do like the rage tail baits significantly more. Have friends that almost exclusively fish rage craws year round and do quite well. Give them a shot at your pond and see if the fish agree!
