Went out w some family and my best friend on The Thomas Flyer out of Bayside Marketplace in Miami Monday morning and heard the dolphin were thick and growing up offshore fishing but recently getting into bass fishing I had a goal to catch a dolphin on my bass rod.

Well, it was a success. So with an Abu Garcia baitcaster w 12lb mono on my 7' StCroix bass rod and a nice 15 minute fight I landed this 4lb cow. We ended up catching 60 Mahi with the biggest coming in at 23lbs and tagging/releasing 20+/-.

We had a great time and Jimbo and Rick are stand up guys.

We got into a school of little guys on our boat last october and I broke out the drop shot rod with 6lb test. These fish were all under 24" though

There's no way it took you that long to land that fish???

That little guy looks like he was fun on bass fishing gear. Fortunately you had a productive trip.

Definetly. Been looking forward to the fight since I started bass fishing recently.

Nice fish. Dolphin's can be nonstop action when found on some floating debris or some other thing the school can relate too. Make sure to clean that gear out, don't want corrosion!
