Hey dudes, been getting into bass fishing hardcore as of late, saw this sight and joined, might end up trying to do a college tournament with my buddy but who knows. Been fishing for bass since I was really young, caught the first one on a jitterbug that my little bro found in the weeds.

I also fly fish for trout, steelhead, carp and will be starting to go after some toothy critters with the fly as well if the weather ever cooperates with me. Along with that I do a decent amount of flathead fishing in the Mon river, nothing worth bragging about has been caught though.

I just like fishing a lot for whatever species, they are all fun in their own way.

Seams like it, West Newton I see, you fish the yough at all?

No. I'd like to, but my boat doesn't like the shallow stuff.

Fair enough, buddy and me will be trying from the shore this fall.

Guessing you hit the mon up then. Finally been down enough to fish it after a month.

Want to do more of that too. Only been out 4 times this year, all on Erie. Brought my boat home from camp last weekend, so I'd like to do some local fishing.

Weren't missing much when it came to the mon the last month, rain had it several feet up and brown all of june, brought it back just in time, river looks good now.

I'm right in the South Hills. I can get down to the Allegheny North Shore in about 10-15 minutes, depending on city traffic.

Rains have been keeping me away from the rivers and streams.  Finally getting a break.  Haven't returned to the rivers, but have been fishing some holes in Chartiers Creek for Smallies, and a little lake fishing.  Thinking about heading to the Yough in the next month with the yak.  Haven't fished it since high school.

How is Chartiers creek? Never fished it, I just didn't know how good it was.

There are actually some productive spots.  The section right below Canonsburg Lake Dam is usually a sure thing for Smallies. Some decent holes down around Chartiers Park and Wingfield Pines. I found one spot last year that they were crushing, but haven't been back this year, yet.

I saw some pic proof of a few hogs caught down on the Lynch Ponds, but personally haven't caught much, myself, there.

Cool, I've fished right below the dam for carp, done well. Tried for bass, had a nice one, but lost him, to many snags right there to be worth fishing it much.

Yeah, I've tried at the bottom of the dam, but with no success (although i DID catch a nice looking lure!  ;)  )

i typically go down a ways and fish along the stream, there, just before or after this little rock dam in the stream. A lot of times, I use a Rebel Wee Craw.  Smallies love em, and they suspend, so it stays off the bottom.  Otherwise, I'm using a hair jig, like a Lindy Fuzzy Grub, or something hand tied.
