Caught a bag of dog poop this morning in a very small urban pond. Snagged it on a size 0 inline spinner. I kind of wish I had gotten a picture, but at the same time I'm glad I didn't.

Bit of a pointless post really but just had to share. What's the grossest thing you've caught off the bottom of a lake/river?

Not gross but probably one of the best fights I´ve ever had: a hat, oh man, it fought like a champ !

Caught a diaper once while cranking the bottom.

It wasn't me but the Cops had a heck of a time searching the CT river outside Springfield a ways back when a fisherman jigging the bottom pulled up a big clump of human hair.

They didn't find anything though.

I'm gagging just thinking about that. I hate hair in my shower drain, much less pulling it out of a lake.

No dead bodies yet......an excercise ball full of water was a pretty dead weight. I hook shopping bags all the time, when they fill with water they're a pain in the butt to bring in.

I think you meant "snatched out in a catfight down by the train tracks" tho.  Far more likely.

Foul hooked a dead goose one time.  I broke the line and kept going.

I saw a two "mud sharks" float  past the boat one time.

They must have been pooped out from a good fight!

I can see the feces jokes spiraling out of control on this thread xD

I just got back from Lake of the Ozarks and I ended up hooking into a garbage bag that was about half full of trash while I was cranking....never been so disappointed haha

My dad ended up pulling up a pair of swimming goggles dragging a worm on the bottom but that's about the two weirdest things we have pulled up.

I pulled up some girls weave a few months ago in a pond near my house lol

Glad my odd catches have been rather tame

by comparison to some of you guys.

Best non-fish I snagged was a pigeon in flight.

Worst non-fish, probably a garbage bag, but I'm

not entirely sure what it was...gross, definitely.

Garbage bags, I consider it community service I can get use out of. If I see trash I try and snag it and dispose of it.

The worst ting I ever hooked? It was just about dark, and I was having a good day so I stayed a little later. I though I had caught a fish at first, but noticed the heavy dead weight feeling it had. I cranked, and pumped, and cranked and pumped for the better half of 5 minutes. I was basically putting my gear to the test, seeing if I could haul in what ever it might of been. Heavy braid, stout rod, Gammy hooks let's do this I thought! Once I had the object about 15' from shore, I started to walk backwards to attempt to beach what ever this was. When it got to the bank it stopped and I couldn't move it any more. So I reeled up the slack as I walked up to the bank, to get a look at what I drug up.

I bend down and pull up on the rod trying to get the thing to pop out of the water grabbing my line to aid the rod. Bam a snapping turtle with the head the size of a football pops up from the water, opens his mouth and hisses at me. Needless to say it scared the ever living poop out of me, and I jumped. When I did I must have taken the rod with me as a means of protection, because me and that big finger robber snapped that Gammy hook clean at the bend.

I am pretty sure that was my worst experience catching anything, and I am pretty lucky that hook didn't hit me in the face and I didn't put my hand in that turtles face.

Didn't hook it, but there is a main river that flows into one of the Great Lakes where I live.  After big rain storms it's always full of interesting things floating by.  The most memorable one was the baby stroller bobbing down the river.  I stayed far away from that one, I certainly did not want to find out if something was in it.

Strangest a fold up camping chair.

Grossest would be a condom, the Mon River can be nasty

Ah, the good ol' Allegheny whitefish. Their population has been declining over the years in the burgh after they moved the keeper size up to the Magnum XL.
