b_spill Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I don't know if anyone has any idea about this, but I was wondering how long a run would be on Guntersville. Specifically a run from South Sauty Creek (about mid-lake) down to the Guntersville City Harbor. I wouldn't be running 60mph either, probably max 50mph with about average of 45mph. If anyone has an idea or estimate that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 14, 2015 Super User Posted July 14, 2015 Go to http://www.usatf.org/routes/map/ andmap the route and it will give you the mileage and then you can figure it out based on your boat speed. Pretty straightforward stuff really.... Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 14, 2015 Super User Posted July 14, 2015 It is about 14 miles from the mouth of S.Sauty to the city Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 14, 2015 Super User Posted July 14, 2015 About 15 minutes - maybe 20 or so if there's traffic . . . A-Jay 1 Quote
Al Wolbach Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 You may know this but, Guntersville can be pretty rough at times, I would allow extra time for rough water. And watch out for barge wake. You can't always see the barges, due to turns in the channel, but they can leave a huge wake that seems to linger for a long time. You can get some serious air time if you run up on a barges wake without warning. I speared one(actually about the third one) that took the trolling motor off the bow of my Champion. 1 Quote
