Looking for a multi purpose 7' MH casting rod for general purpose. Mainly to be used with Texas rigs, jigs, light frogging and the occasional spinnerbait/big topwater. Trying to keep it under $100..

Thanks

Im sure a lot of people will recommend an Abu Veritas, but honestly if it were me Id steer clear of that. I have not really had any good experiences with anything with Abu's name on it.

If you are not planning on using braid than I would for sure say you should look at a Duckett Ghost. If you want to use braid then you can also look at a ***, but it will be closer to $120 if you get it new. It is also a 7'3. They do offer a $99 6'7 MH.

Definitely using 50lb braid. I've heard a lot about ***..never felt one though. I have been using st croix for years but just was seeing what other options I have

If you do go the *** route make sure you feel one in store. The handle can be a bit uncomfortable for some.

I really like my 7FT MH St croix premiers, but thats over $100.  Cabelas does have an in store special on the split grip premiers;  $30 off right now if you can find one in stock

Plenty of competitive options in your price range. Trying using the search or browsing older threads, there have been a bunch of discussions on rods in this price range in the last few weeks.

Also if you like St Croix and can deal with the handle/seat design they had their Rage rods on close out in their Bargain Room online for $99 each.

Unlike cjam, I've had good experiences with AG.  I have a 7'MH Veritas 2.0 and I would not hesitate to recommend it, nor would I hesitate to buy another.
