Craw Rig... Anyone Ever Try This?

The other day was slow on the lake. Slow is a bit generous, it was dead. So I thought of a different way (at least to me) to rig a craw. On a shaky head. My thinkin' was that on the bottom the shaky head would put a plastic craw in a natural defensive position with the claws up and spread out. I didn't catch anything with it, but I hadn't caught anything all day. Just wondering if anybody has tried rigging a craw on a shaky head and it worked out or not.

Well, they make standup jigheads for them. Not too much different.

That or on a skirtless bitsy bug jig.  One of the best cures for lockjaw I've ever seen!

YUM crawbugs, the small size, are magic on a 1/8 oz. bitsy bug jig.

Here's another one for you, instead of rigging it on a shakeyhead use a neko rig, works like a charm.

A lot of people do that. I've caught fish with it, but prefer a finesse worm. 

 

Try a Rage Craw, it's a pretty sick combo.

i have done it for years and i also like to rig them on slider heads, especially for river smallies.  My new favorite though is the confidence baits draggin' head.  Works very well and rarely if ever gets snagged in rivers or lakes.

We've had a guy win AOY several times with it.  Got to the point that he carried 3 rods in the boat, 2 were identical spinning rods rigged with a 3.75" Yamamoto Craw.  Gary Yamamoto knows him by name with the number of craws he bought. LOL.

Lol, this is a really cool presentation. I use the Savage 3D for this, or the Yum Crawbugs or whatever they're called. I weight the tail, and wacky rig it, with hook the long way or "latitude," instead of through the side. You can use the Owner twist lock screws if you want, especially if you're using an expensive craw like a Hudd Bug. Use a very light weight, and fish it super slow. I don't know if it's any better than any other wacky, wacky jig, or neko rig, but it it looks too cool in water, and it does get bit.

I'm with flyfisher - I use a hand-poured keel weighted style hook for all of my small craws that plasce the craw slightly in a defensive posture.  Other than as a trailer on a skirted jig, but I position the trailer in the same orientation to give more of a defensive posture at rest.
