Balshy Fishing Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 So, today I stopped at Cabellas after I fished Kaercher Creek in Pennsylvania and realized how much I miss this place. They had Cavitron Buzzbaits and Shake2's which I can't find anywhere but TW. Now, when fishing in this stuff What line and lure do y'all suggest? I really want to switch to braid but to be honest, I'm scared haha. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted July 11, 2015 Super User Posted July 11, 2015 I would try braid. I switched to it on my casting setup recently, and I love it! And I would be throwing a spinnerbait, frog, bladed jig, and t-rigged plastics. 1 Quote
Balshy Fishing Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 Yeah, appreciated! I only fish with spinning gear so I'll be seeing what I should do here. Quote

Nothing to fear, unless you fear falling in love Seriously, I use braid for 'everything', and find it particularly well-suited to spinning gear (there are several advantages). Having done a lot of fishing for keen-sighted bluefin tuna, when I first began I dutifully affixed a leader to the braid. That soon grew old, which I now consider busywork, today I use straight braid even in clear water and feel no pain Roger Quote
Weld's Largemouth Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 are you kidding me? that "stuff" is nothing, no problem for any line 1 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Braid is a game changer. If you, or anyone else reading this who hasn't tried it, hasn't spooled up a reel with braid, you need to give it a go! Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I fish mono through coontail, as low as 8lb test. It comes through pretty well. The coontail in my lakes is pretty brittle, so your mileage may vary... Quote

Haven't fished there in years. Use to be able to catch bass even in the dog days of summer there. I always fished to the left (if your facing the lake) of the fishing pier. Quote
Balshy Fishing Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 It was the first time I was there since last year, I'm from the Hershey area. I walk up the trail to the right towards the riprap and fished the cove before it in the coontail. Landed plenty of big fish last year but this year, I couldn't catch anything. Had trouble in the rip-rap too. It was annoying. It was the last bit of Shake2's, they only had 3 and they were on sale. I was shocked! They have the Cavitron Buzzbaits too which is super surprising because I thought I coulld only buy those online! Quote
